Newb question about roman allies.

Post by matt0341 »

I'm planning on building a mid-republican Roman army. I'll begin with the starter army as presented in Rise of Rome, and build on from there.

In that list there is a unit of allied Italian medium foot. I'm at a loss as to what miniatures (in 15mm) I should use to represent these troops.

Looking at various figure manufacturers I see Campanians, Etruscans, Oscan, Apulian and a few others listed. But I don't know if any of these are correct.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you.

From mail correspondence with RBS I opted to use Oscan javelinmen to represent those not subsumed fully into the Roman system.

Okay.

The Oscan Javelinmen would be "Other lighter equipped Italian allied infantry" from the main list then?

And Oscan heavy infantry, going by the Old Glory figure listing under Italian City States could be used for the "Italian allied pedites extaordinarii" perhaps?

...And searching the forum using Oscan instead of allied italian as a keyword has helped too.
