Game units.

Post by kane544 »

Hello all,

Long time player but first time poster. My question is what level of army unit is each individual unit supposed to represent in this game? Is it battalion or brigade?

There is no official answer - it varies between missions. I think of them as divisions, as you get ~17 units in Poland (vanilla scenario 1) which is approx. 1/3 of the Wehrmacht. (53 div. in 1939). This seems to still apply in France (~22/60) and in Russia (20-30/~120).

However, in Afrika Korps (and probably Allied Corps as well), the units are named as regiments, but this would mean a VERY small (10 div. max) army would be fighting in India. Divisions makes more sense there as well, as 350k men would be a reasonable army to send into India after annihilating all other Brit armies.

As for the GC, it is probably far smaller, seeing as a whole army in that is roughly equal to a single unit (Stalingrad in the vanilla campaign is 3 hexes, in the GC it is 1000+)

That would make sense given that some scenarios covers a much wider area than others. Thanks for the BNC. :D
