Rules queries for FAQ.
Hi guys
I'm volunteering to put together a list of FAQ's for V2 in the UK which covers the few queries that keep cropping up and the general consensus on how they should be ruled upon.
As a starter can you post on this thread the most problematic queries not adequately covered by the V2 rules and I'll try and gain a general consensus on how they should be played.
Thanks
Rob

Robert you are a Brave man
1) When a BG is near the table edge is a move or charge which would include a wheel and thereby involve the rear of the base going off table a legal move? The two arguments being
a) You are allowed to wheel when your rear end would pass through another BG and this is a similar situation.
b) If any part of the base goes off table you lose the unit
My understanding is most people feel it should probably be a) and play it that way but without an authors comment the rules say b)

Re: Rules queries for FAQ.
From umpire calls I've had:
Orb in hand to hand. How many bases fight. Orb rules say one thing, close combat rules say another.
What happens when multiple lines of BGs evade through each other in the same phase.
Can evaders evade twice in a single phase.
LF evading through a log jam of friendly units. Some of which the can get through, some they reach but don't get through and some they don't reach. It's unclear where they end up (some play that they are destroyed, some that they stop at the log jam but don't enter it)

Robert, to keep you on the straight and narrow I will give you a hand with the faqs if you like.. although its accepted you're not much of a team player!
Why not collect all the queries and then sort the answers out. I have posted a query separately too

It would probably be a lot (maybe too much) work, but hyperlinking the FAQ to where the discussions are on this forum would probably be helpful.

Reproducing here to keep in one thread:navigator wrote:Robert, to keep you on the straight and narrow I will give you a hand with the faqs if you like.. although its accepted you're not much of a team player!

I had a new one last night.
A line of heavy foot has enemy light foot screening all the front of it half an inch in front of the HF. Approx 6 inches behind the LF is a unit of enemy cavalry lancers.
The heavy foot charge.
The cavalry declare an intercept and move 4 inches.
The LF evade
The HF hit the Cavalry
Is this correct? and where does it say explicitly that it is or isn't? Intuitively my feeling is the cav have no ZOI to move into at the start of the move so cant intercept... but it is not at all clear in the rules( as far as I can make out)

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

Re: Rules queries for FAQ.
Cheers guys and Paul.
I'm working on budgets this week and am away at the Scottish Open this weekend so will be a little quiet.
My plan is to have a rules thread for each one that isn't resolved by this thread where we can discuss and reach an agreement.
Rob

On Grahams query about intercepts
Phil wrote
(I am aware that the LF have no choice about evading)
Phil wrote
This statement is entirely correct but just to add a little explanation. Whether an intercept is possible is determined prior to evades and the charge path of the HF at that time stops at the LF. This being at 5 1/2 inches from the cavalry means that the cav cannot intercept. They also could not intercept even if closer if the LF were in the way.No
