Command Bases

Post by mgdavey »

A clarification on commander bases: For measuring and contact purposes, are they meant to be treated in the same way as regimental guns or the extra pike base of swedish brigade? For example, can a command base extend a front line such that the BG can be supported by an obstacle or a command shot BG? I assume it can't.

Sorry, I'm not sure I follow your question.

Command bases aren't really there, so cannot really be contacted etc, and are 'moved out of the way' into another position.

However, for measurement purposes the size of the base does count. So, if you're measuring command span of commander base, the measurement is taken from the edge of the base... but they can't extend the size of the unit to make contact with an enemy. You need real troops to do that.

I hope that helps.

Yep - this is the key sentence. The size/footprint of the command base is only ever used when you are measuring command range to and from that base.

They can join a unit for combat etc, but don't ever become part of that units footprint for any measurements
