3.1 defect

Post by thornik »

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but it has been happening since I upgraded to 3.1 very consistently. Whenever I use an air unit that has a strength of 1 and it is intercepted by an enemy fighter, the game locks up completely.

This has never happened to me before in 3.0 on the same system.

Just curious if others have experienced this as it seems very consistent and can be pretty much duplicated on demand.

There are times when it makes strategic sense to me. For example, Italy is about to fall and you have an italian air at 1 step. Use it to attack and draw an allied fighter to intercept, thus freeing german TACs on that front for attack in the same turn without fear of interception. Or maybe to sacrifice (kill) the rumanian air unit so it doesn't fall into russian hands if you see bucharest falling next turn.

I was able to recreate the problem and think I made a fix. At least my recreation of the bug doesn't trigger anymore with the update.

Can you download game.class and put it in the game folder and try again? File is Zip'ed so you need to unzip first.

Yep - I just did a quick test and that seems to resolve the issue in my game. I'll continue on with the game (using this patch) and let you know if I notice any issues. But I have to say - pretty impressed that a fix would be turned around so quickly. Nice work.
