Is this project being developed in a professional manner?

Post by Alexkfabian »

Hello, dear Artistocrats!

How are you doing this fine autumn?

Indeed, autumn has come and winter will soon follow in its wake. Soon to be 2015.

Yet, there is no consistent feedback on the beta test. Where it's at, what issues do you have, what steps have been taken to address them and so on.

I've volunteered to be a tester since the day your original announcement came, but I've yet to receive any kind of response. Even a polite, negative one would have been preferred instead of this silence.

Usually, professional game developers try to spark a little bit of interest in the public prior to the release of their game. Creating some hype and promoting a quality game can generally make it sell better.

I feel that you're either filthy rich and don't give a damn or you're developing "Order of Battle: Pacific" pro-bono, in your off hours so we cannot really expect nothing of you in terms of posting PR crap on the forums.

Either way, keep up the good job!

The guys of Artistocrats are very busy developing this game. They are doing it on a full time basis.

The beta test is in full swing with valuable feedback coming in from our beta testers and more and more scenarios are being finalized and put into the game. Game balancing is also a big issue which hasn't been tackled yet and this will also take a lot of time.

I can confirm that you are on our beta test list but due to the amount of applicants, we decide randomly how will get into the beta test.
There is a beta test forum which is invisible to people who are not part of the beat test group. However I can assure you, there is a lot of feedback going on there.

One could argue it's a bit more than a full time basis

It is a huge project however and we are (as most of the Slitherine/Matrix developers) a small team. There is no doubt we have misjudged the amount of work required to complete this game - which seems to be common practice among developers - and we don't want to release it before we are entirely happy with the result. Rest assured we want it to be done and available as much as you do!

In a way it is a pitty we cannot make the beta forum visible to all, just so you could see all the feedback, progress and how we are still implementing changes to address issues brought up by the testers. To give you a number, that forum will surely reach 3000 posts in a few days (even if aproximately 2900 of them are made by zakblood  ).

Haha, Zak wants to get a bigger vehicle as his avatar quickly, that's all.

Yes, I forgot to add full time basis and beyond. The devs are working very hard to get it out. Then on top of it, they need to give responses in the beta forum as well and check what the testers have found what is wrong with the game and so forth. Everything is time consuming.

You're pretty close to getting the Maus now AFAIK. Zak will then be able to have your now-useless carrier.

I really want a Fokker Dr I but unfortunately that isn't an official piece of equipment in Pzc :( (Unless you play my WWI mod!). It would probably take me a few years to reach 10k though.

I think you lost your carrier now. Your 410 must have flown away as my 8.8 blew a hole in your carrier when it was in port.
