I just downloaded the Warhammer 40k Armageddon Beta, and its been pretty fun actually! I know that this game is not release stability yet but, I am not entirely sure about / don't understand some of game mechanics. I often have Full Steel Legion Squads attack Grots Squads and do no damage even out of cover. Artillery and Vehicles seem pretty weaksause at best and i haven't been deploying them. So far i have had to spam Special Weapon Flamer Squads to defeat enemy Orks. I'm not sure if the damage tables are finalized or not so this may not be an issue. I'm not sure at all how the construction of new units work at all, It seems almost random to me. And finally the mount/dis-mount command doesn't seem to work. If there was a Readme file that explained these things it didn't download with the the beta. If i had a readme file or something that explained the mechanics it might solve some of these issues. Other than that and the a game crash that has already been brought up in another discussion, I very much like the direction this game is going and can not wait to see what is done in future updates! however I see me sinking a lot of my time into this game! :D

- The damage output is pretty low compared to the ork horde strength indeed, but I think it is by purpose.
I think artillery has a higher chance to disrupt units (weaken their morale to turn them yellow, then red), which is pretty powerful.

- Currently, the strongest anti infantry unit is any infantry with gorgon transports, as they have insane firepower(Someone suggested that the damage calculation was based on the number of men in the platoon, so each soldier is currently considered to have the firepower of a full Gorgon IFV when embarked), but that is an exploit. Otherwise, you just need to be patient :)

-construction of units (recruitment and upgrade) only work in the campaign, at the beginning of the missions after the first one I think. You can upgrade any unit to another in the same category ( Infantry to Infantry, arty to arty...), then you can only deploy them on the setup hex.
There are a few bugs with construction ( the game does not let you recruit anymore when too many units are deployed I think, but if you undeploy, you can then buy more units, and redeploy everyone).
The currency used is the requisition points you have(the number left to the turn counter).

-Mount/Dismount only works if you have upgraded the unit with transports.
