Naval Battles?
When I discovered the one (nice looking) ship model included in the game I asked myself if naval battles (of course with several other ship types and texture variations added) would be possible in P&S. Could the game engine/the AI handle that? Would it make sense at all?

I've been told that the engine may be able to do it, whether there would be the market for it would be an important factor though.

I though so.whether there would be the market for it would be an important factor though
Amongst other things it could be a question of the period such expansion(s) would cover. Perhaps 1450 to 1750? - Imagine the possibilities: combined land and naval operations during the Siege of Constantinople, Lepanto, Spanish Armada etc. ... Oh, I better shut up.

Re: Naval Battles?
Whether it is age of sail (Anglo-Dutch wars, Napoleonic, Louis IVX, Batltic, Lepanto) I think there would be a market especially for the various ship packs. If it was dreadnought with the centenary of Jutland coming up I dont think it would need much marketing

Well, they've got about 18 months development time to hit the 100th anniversary for thatSmirfy wrote:If it was dreadnought with the centenary of Jutland coming up I dont think it would need much marketing
I'd get it like a shot - it could include pre-Dreadnought stuff as well
More seriously I think that naval wargaming is a fairly minority interest amongst wargamers and it may not appeal financially to Slitherine even if it is viable with the engine.

You're surely right, though it would be nice to see naval warfare a bit expanded in future expansions.nikgaukroger wrote:More seriously I think that naval wargaming is a fairly minority interest amongst wargamers and it may not appeal financially to Slitherine even if it is viable with the engine.

Check out viewforum.php?f=246 for an example of how moddable the engine is
A naval mod is definitely doable.

Gah! Damn my Godlike access
Here is a public thread. I know Amaris has been super-busy on other stuff too, but it's pretty much a new game with different mechanics.
