Hello,
I've seen some videos of the game and think of buying it. But I'd like to hear some more about the game from experienced players first. What is the length of the campaigns? Does the outcome of the current scenario influence the overall campaign in any way, regarding campaign path units and so on? Are there any core units which build up some combat exp from battle to battle if they stay alive?
Cheers

Re: Question on Campaigns
In this version, you can play the scenario in any order you want. They are unrelated. It is just better for the learning experience to do them in order. I would say the 4 campaign does 20-25h. You can then switch to multiplayer or coop play. The editor is powerful too.
They did a campaign with core unit for the battle of Arnhem(a bridge too far) so may be an expansion might do it.
After it depends of what you are looking for.

Re: Question on Campaigns
Thanks for your answer. Too bad, I always like some kind of core units. It rewards you for keeping your losses low.
Re: Question on Campaigns
It is still one of the best tactical game on WWII. Though you might want to try lock an load, but I like less (they have core unit). Or Battle academy 1 with the appropriate expansion.

The capability is there to do this, but the initial release of BA2 does not use it. Using it in the editor is very easy however, if you're into modding you could definitely take advantage of the feature much easier now for custom campaigns than in BA1. I confirm that in BA1, Arnhem was the only expansion that made use of this feature (and mostly in a limited way IMHO)
Re: Question on Campaigns
Think I remember reading somewhere that one of the add on campaigns they were thinking of doing as a carry over. Couldn't tell you for the life of me which thread it was in but I remember seeing it. If I had to guess it would have to be a German perspective one because that's really the only way you could feel the weight of losing units carelessly. Especially if it was a Soviet campaign post 1943. You'd lose a unit and get 5 replacing it lol. Doesn't really make much sense. Maybe they'll do a Cherkassy Pocket campaign with a grand campaign objective of getting so many units out?
Re: Question on Campaigns
I am really curious to see what campaign they are working on for an expansion. And I hope it is of the carry-over type. Adds hugely to the enjoyment as there is a need to preserve forces over the scenarios. Any hints Pip/Iain?
Thanks,
Gerry

Re: Question on Campaigns
It would have to be Stalingrad. It would be like a 100% purchase rate lol. I don't think anyone on this board would not buy a Stalingrad campaign add on. Actually I think they could make it from both German and Soviet points of view as separate purchases and everyone would still buy both as well.Gerry wrote:I am really curious to see what campaign they are working on for an expansion.
