From Burton:
A BG of longbowmen deploys stakes along its full frontage of 4 elements (8 element BG in total).
The Bw are charged by a BG of 4 knights in line in such a way that there are two elements of each side in contact. After conforming in the manouver phase, each side has one overlapping element and one "free" element at opposite ends (the Bw having rear ranks as well). The Kn choose not to expand. The Bw choose to match the existing overlap from their free end (pretty much as shown in the top diagram on page 73 of the rules except in the Burton case it was the foot feeding more bases in).
What happens to the stakes of the 2 elements being fed into the line at the opposite end?
and
Later a BG friendly to the Bw wants to move up, but the stakes (if they are left behind) are in the way. Can the friendly group go through the stakes?

Hi Paul
Perm fortifications do not restrict movement if undefended so Portable Ostacles on there own certainly do not. So yes you can cross them.
We hadn't covered specifially the detail of stakes and feeding more troops into combat but the principle is that they are fixed in place so I would certainly rule that the stakes stay put and the bases move. We'll need to clarify that in an FAQ I suspect. In general we will always go with intent and sensible logic above word legalise. The benefits of official interps.
Hope you are having as much fun with it as we have had developing it.

Well I'm glad you enjoyed writing them, because whatever else it was I'm sure it was an enormous amount of work from all of you.
Personally I'm enjoying the rules, thanks. They make a refreshing change from DBM for me. Now all I have to do is negotiate a few more weekends away.
Thanks for the answers on the stakes.
