Very Sad News

Post by titanu »

Hi All,

I received a phone call this morning from Tony Robinson to let me know the sad news that Martin Wilkinson passed away last week. Apparently he had decided to stop his various treatments and the cancer he has been living with for the best part of the last 20 years finally claimed him. At the moment I have no information on a funeral but I will do everything I can to be there.

I have managed to get in touch with Dave Handley who is at the doubles this weekend and he should be making the news known there.

Not sure what else I can say, Martin has been suffering from cancer ever since I first knew him and was I am sure an inspiration to many that you needed to fight and if you did you could beat anything. When I met him he was I think 18 months from being given 6 months to live and that was over 15 years ago.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for letting us know James. Martin was an inspiration in being determined to continue enjoying life despite his illness.
