Tanks and Hedges

Post by Gerry4321 »

Hello All:

It seems strange (?) that big soviet tanks cannot go through hedges. There was no bocage as far as I know in Russia. It seems they should be able to drive through hedges (and walls?).

When they cannot, it really creates chokepoints all over the map.

Thanks for any help,

Gerry

This is by design. Would be pretty dull if heavy tanks could just move anywhere in straight lines... :)

Cheers

Gerry,

In my MP scenario I'm using a script which allows heavier tanks to remove wall sections. viewtopic.php?f=221&t=50868#p479079

Hello Pip:

Nothing to do with being dull. But I think big tanks could realistically do this. (Note: I am not looking for a full-bore simulation here, I like the game.) Problem now is the tanks are being funneled down roads in farmland maps. And given that one cannot drive through another tank even though a square is at least 40m, then it creates even more bottlenecks.

Take care,

Gerry

Hello:

Thanks for your tip. Does this runs with BA2 yet?

I am a while away from trying it as I am just starting to play through the included campaigns. Will be up for this kind of stuff later.

The scenario is designed in BA2 for BA2, but the script could easily be used in BA1 scenarios.
I will test the scenario in the latest EAP version as soon as I've installed it.

We're assuming that any hedges we show are more than a garden hedge. These are significant obstacles similar to boccage in the Ardennes which are completely impenetrable for any vehicle or infantry.
