Great War - Vimy Ridge scenario
Hi All,
Well...in eager anticipation of BA2 (us poor Mac owners!) and a renewed interest in WWI, I've created a new battle based on the Canadian assault on Vimy Ridge that cold Easter morning in April 1917.
It's just in testing right now...but I'm happy to share it at this point and welcome all feedback.
A big tip of my hat to the awesome mod by Tim1966...without whom, this scenario simply wouldn't have been!
NOTE; PRELIMINARY TESTING IS NOW COMPLETE, WATCH HERE FOR THE NEXT VERSION.
(historical note - my greatgrandfather was in the leading wave of the assualt on Vimy with the Canadian 1st Division, 14th Battalion...he helped take the ridge and took a bullet wound in the process)

I'd love to give it a try (I'll install it later) but Tim1966's maps are quite laggy on my old iPad, and I keep experiencing crashes, which is way I almost never play them.

I have picked up your game. Will converse in game as I am planning to go to Vimy and The Somme in the near future.

kingt - Sorry to hear. It turned out to be quite a big file so maybe that's why it's giving you problems. iPad testing would be good...I think I've set it up correctly so that iPad players can use it. At any rate, hope to catch you on the field in BA2 for sure!
guardsman - Thanks for the game! Looking forward to hearing your comments
glenghiscan - I'm not much for travel, but Vimy would certainly be on my list!
I'd like to do some more Great War scenarios while I wait for BA2. 2nd Ypres (where my ggf was first wounded holding the line after the German gas attack, shrapnel wound left thigh) is likely next. Challenging to make it a good game with the limited resources of the day (i.e. no tanks, no Lewis guns etc...)

Roger that, thanks for the games.
I thought of a fun idea...much like the 'leader' unit that has been developed, I'd think it would be fun to have a Highland Piper with the ability to rally! Suggestions?

Re: Great War - Vimy Ridge scenario
Just as a note, mods with custom units and textures can be problematic on older iPads because their textures are much (MUCH!) larger. You can improve this by adding compressed version for iPad as per the section on iPad modding on the wiki: http://www.slitherinebravo.net/GameWiki ... ing_ui_hot

Thanks Pip,
I'll review that and see if I can make it happen for the iPad!

Re: Great War - Vimy Ridge scenario
Preliminary testing is now complete and I'll be working toward the next version.
Some of the changes will include...
Overall, I would like to create a few scenarios about the Great War and perhaps even retro-fit the Tim1966 MP battles that seem to be lacking objectives etc...
Thanks again to everyone who gave it a play!
Some of the changes will include...
- Deplyoment
- Leaders
- Improved Wire
- Preliminary Barrages (would like to make it a little random...that might take some figuring out though).
- Reinforcements (German)
- Changes to force purchasing
