Shortly after the Crusaders captured Jerusalem they marched south to intercept a Fatimid army intent on retaking the city. The Crusaders surprised the unprepared Fatimids near Ascalon and they did not have time to fully deploy their cavalry before the battle began. The Crusaders routed the Fatimid troops in a short battle.
Most of the Fatimid cavalry begin the game in their camp and Fragmented to simulate the extreme difficulty they had in getting organized and deployed. This is another scenario that should be played as a paired match.
