I got the first problem! Yippee!

Post by sum1won »

While the game does start succesfully, I am having several problems. First, the picture at the top of the autoplay menu is scrambled. Second, after starting, as soon as the game attempts to enter the first battle in the tutorial, the game crashes.

I meet all the system requirements. (I have an athlon, btw, and that may be why this got throuhg the beta testers)

I will try to see if I can multiplay, and will post results

Can you give us a more detailed system spec. I would also recommend that you check you have the latest drivers for your graphics and sound cards.

Cheers

Hmmm - the demo runs OK but not the game? Strange. Can you be more specific about when and how it crashes?

Cheers

Hmmmm

What happens is that the game starts okay. I start the tutorial, and get through the points where it tells you how to look at the stats. However, when the video that precedes the first battle is over, the game crashes. (Just before troop placement).

Then, LEgion arena minimizes exits with a sound like it minimized- or similar to it- and I have a screen just like normal, except LEgion Arena is no longer running.

EDIT: I have tried it several times, so it isn't a one time only issue.

I know that I am able to create armies- it only seems to crash at the troop-placement phase.

Also, is legion arena really only 796 MB? Because that isn't a lot more than the demo, really. If it isn't, then I guess it hasn't installed properly.

And is there any way to unlock the campaigns without doing the tutorial? IT might just be a problem with the tutorial, though I doubt it.

I installed it on a friend's computer, and it ran fine, so the problem isn't with the CD. There is probably some kinda incompatibility, I think.

Yeah - it's odd though as the demo runs fine, and it uses all the same code and approaches. Could you try reinstalling for us, after cleaning out all the directory afterwards too. You never know, it might be a data corruption that has happened during the initial caching...

Cheers

It seems to have something to do with the computer- I tried reinstalling it, even after disabling background programs and clearing the directory, and it still didn't work. However, one thing happens that did NOT occur in the installation at my friends house- While it is installing some of the stuff from disk 2, it gives an error mesage that the wrong disk is in the drive, and to please insert LEGIONARENA1 into the disk drive. When I do, it skips straight to the installing direct X thing.

Is there a way to manually insert the 130 or so megabyetes Im missing- 765 are all that get installed, for some reason...

The neccasary 130 dont seem to be installing, and they are a vital part of the battle engine. And this computer is refusing to install them.

Hey Sum1Won, when you say the image at the top of the autoplay menu is scrambled what do you mean? Are parts of the images moved around? Or does it look totally wrong? If possible can you post/email me a screenshot.

Thanks,
Ste

II have an idea that may or may not work, but I might need your permission first. What I would like to do is to install it on one computer, network it to my computer, and copy the files over.

Is this allowed, and is there a possibility it may work?

Oh, and I solved the puzzle, but forgot to take a screenshot. Whoops.

I just found a sort-of fix, but it is rather exotic. I installed legion arena on a private server bank my Dad let me use (he normally uses it for storing work files, but he partitioned it), and can run it through my computer. It is a little slow, but it works just fine.

JD said he's going to look into what you ask tomorrow, so expect an answer then :) glad you have it working in the mean-time though, :)

I seem to be having a similar problem -
"While it is installing some of the stuff from disk 2, it gives an error mesage that the wrong disk is in the drive, and to please insert LEGIONARENA1 into the disk drive. When I do, it skips straight to the installing direct X thing."

I've tried re-installing a couple of times - the first time the installation copied 735 MBs and the two further installs copied over 765MBs. I can run the intro but the game crashes before bringing up any further menus. Is there any way of manually copying over the missing files. I have DirectX 9.0c installed.

Thanks for your help

It seems like some CD drives are having a problem with the disk. It is bringing up the message to insert the next disk before it has finished reading the disk that is in. To be safe, make sure you do not swap disks until you see the busy light on your CD ROM has gone off. Let me know if this helps.

I fixed the problem by waiting between insertations and useing a debugger.

Still no luck I'm afraid. I waited until the busy lights had finished, waited another 5 minutes and inserted disc 2. The install seemed to go to the end of the green progress bar and then I had the message "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert LegionArena1 into Drive D". The DirectX install screen appears beneath this message. I put disc 1 back into the drive and then had another message come up "Autorun.exe encountered a problem and needs to close". The DirectX install screen remained on screen and I selected the option not to install. I was then prompted to insert disc 1 into the drive (although this was already in place). The intro ran but the program the program then fell over and without loading any further menus. I checked the size of the installed program - 762 MBs. (I think I quoted 765 before but I'm sure it was 762MBs)

Any further advice / help appreciated.
Regards
Leon
