Save directory

Post by Bonesoul »

Is there any way to change where PzC saves are stored? Playing through Steam, mine end up under users in \users\Me\MyDocuments\MyGames in my system directory, which has never been a problem before but is now. My system is now on one of these solid state fast boot hard drives which is great, but has a tiny capacity in comparison to traditional hard drives, of which I have two of in the same computer.

It would be great if I could direct my save game to one of those drives or even to a portable hard drive, but I cant see an option to select a different save game directory, any ideas?

Cheers

While there is no way to set it directly in Panzer Corps there is a way around it. See this thread. If you have any further questions about this method feel free to ask.

Nice solution but doesn't really help me, my problem is that these new fast system hard drives are small so I need to keep as much as possible off it. Only the OS and a few key program's will fit on it, everything else has to go on a normal hard drive. Because \users is part of the windows system anything saved in there ends up on the tiny fast drive. Creating a virtual mirror on one of the other drives is neat for some issues but for me wont get the saves off the little drive.

I would guess as these Fast hard drives become more common and before they get better storage capacity, this will become an issue for more and more people.

Thanks for the tip though, there are other situations where it will be useful to me and I'd never looked at it before.

You misunderstood the symbolic link system Bonesoul. You are actually moving the data away from the location where they were and placing instead of it the symbolic link pointing to it. You can move the data to another hard drive as well. The link itself is just like an information for the Operating System to where find the data instead and is only a few kilobyte big (exact size depends on HD size and some settings). So it is doing exactly what you want.
