Calendar Day 23 NOV 1942
Command Turn - Airbases and Supply Phase

Same assignments as yesterday. No. 322 Wing RAF returns and is assigned to Souk El Arba.

Image

No Units are out of Supply. However this is a good time to remind everyone of the Supply Rules:

• Supply Status Checks
Supply status is determined at the beginning of the Command Phase.
• In order to be in supply, a BN must be able to trace a line free of enemy BNs or their Zones of Control from a supply source, along a road of any length, and then no more than 18 MPs off the road to the unit.
Tunis and Bizerte and any friendly airfield are friendly supply sources for the Axis player.
The western map edge is a friendly supply source for the Allied player, as is the southern map edge as far east as Le Kef (hex 2321).
Supply may never be traced through a swamp hex, except on a road. Supply may be traced into a rugged crest hex, but not through it. Airborne-capable or Commando units conducting Airborne Assaults or Amphibious Assaults are considered to be in supply for 2 Supply checks following their Assault.
• All BNs which are out of supply have their movement allowances halved. In addition, all Artillery BNs out of supply have their artillery card values halved. All units in out of supply BNs have their morale reduced by 25 points per day. After 3 successive “out of supply” results, a BN is dissolved and converted into Replacement points, suffering a 50% penalty.

Calendar Day 23 NOV 1942
Winter Rains Status is "Partly Cloudy", Today's Weather is Clear
Operational Turn
Support and Movement Orders - Orders Summary

Axis Artillery Orders are uncontested this Phase. 5 Arty/Superga BN is available for "Battery Fire".

The combined Axis and Allied Air orders are:

Image

So we have 2 Air to Air Combats between 2 Axis Interceptors and the two 2 Allied Interdiction Missions.

In Priority Order, the Axis Interceptors must intercept Interdiction missions closest to them.

III./Zerstörergeschwader 2, Priority 1 at Djedeida Airfield (0714), will Intercept 1st Fighter Group attempting to interdict hex 1009 (6 Hexes distant) as opposed to 14th Fighter Group attempting to interdict hex 1613 (9 Hexes distant).

11./Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen', Priority 2 at El Aouina Airfield (0510), will Intercept 14th Fighter Group attempting to interdict hex 1613 (11 Hexes distant).

III./Jagdgeschwader 53 'Pik As', Priority 3 at Sidi Ahmed Airfield (0217), flies with beauty and grace, inspiring awe and admiration amongst the ground troops and puts on a spectacular air show, but otherwise does nothing.

The Air Combat Chart
Image

*Note: All Rolls witnessed by both GMs using the "PBE Games : Dice Roller"

III./Zerstörergeschwader 2, Priority 1 at Djedeida Airfield (0714), will Intercept 1st Fighter Group attempting to interdict hex 1009.

Air to Air Combat One - III./Zerstörergeschwader 2 versus 1st Fighter Group

Image

III./Zerstörergeschwader 2 rolls 2d10 and gets a "1" and a "6", aborting 1st Fighter Group. 1st Fighter Group rolls a "7" -2 so a net roll of "5" and missing III./Zerstörergeschwader 2. The P-38F's fly back to Bone!

11./Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen', Priority 2 at El Aouina Airfield (0510), will Intercept 14th Fighter Group attempting to interdict hex 1613 (11 Hexes distant).

Air to Air Combat Two - 11./Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen' versus 14th Fighter Group

Image

11./Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen' rolls 2d10 and gets a "4" and a "7", aborting 14th Fighter Group. 14th Fighter Group rolls a "10" -2 so a net roll of "8" and aborting III./Zerstörergeschwader 2. So close! But the Aces in 11./Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen' win the day!

Image

There is a little fly-by with a tail wag from III./Zerstörergeschwader 2 at everyone!

So the Remaining Air Missions after Air to Air Combats are:
Axis:
The Ju-87Ds of II./Sturzkampfgeschwader 3 interdicts 1410 (Pont du Fahs).
The Ju-87Ds of III./Sturzkampfgeschwader 3 interdicts 1617 (Teboursouk).
The Bf-110Es of 8.S./Schlachtgeschwader 2 interdicts 1320 (Beja).

Allies:
The Spitfire Mk Vbs of No. 322 Wing RAF are available for Ground Support

Image

For all the German bravado, No. 322 Wing RAF is going to ruin someone's day!

Calendar Day 23 NOV 1942
Winter Rains Status is "Partly Cloudy", Today's Weather is Clear
Operational Turn
Support and Movement Orders - Movement Orders Resolution

Final Movement Orders:
These orders are impacted by Support Orders Resolution.

Image

Movement as Displayed on the Map:

Image

Note - Allied II/43RC BN moving from Hex 1310 to Hex 2012 (Robaa) must stop in hex 1812 as it has insufficient movement, as the roads in 1410 are negated due to interdiction.

Note - The Allied BG moving from Hex 1410 (Pont du Fahs) to Hex 2012 (Robaa) is interdicted and moves after all other moves have been completed. The practical effect of this today is that the Axis KG moving to Robaa arrives before the Allied BG does.

Note - The Allied 1 Para BN and 56 Recce BN moving from Hex 1617 (Teboursouk) and Hex 1320 (Beja) respectively are both interdicted and move after all other moves have been completed. The practical effect of this today is that the Axis KG leaving Hex 1416 (Testour) departs before 1 Para BN and 56 Recce BN arrive in the Hex.

Support Decisions for both Sides:

Allies - Ground Support. GM note - I am going to assume that the Allied commander will support the battle in Hex 2012 with No. 322 Wing RAF. The refresh rate will be "5" at 11 hexes.

Axis -
Artillery Support: 5Arty/Superga BN will cook Lasagna in their kitchen ovens. 63 Bersaglieri will arrive as the just as the food is being served, and take it from them, having a great meal on the way to Tunis.

Image

There is one battle this day. Theater Commanders must choose who will command the battle. As well the Axis and Allied decisions listed below must be blindly exchanged between the two Commanders by tomorrow, WED 16 APR 2014:

1.) BG Mlazar (No. 6 CDO & I/43RC BNs) combats KG 190 PzAufK in hex 2012 (Robaa) in an ME.

Axis Decisions: The Axis must chose 2 Primary BNs and a Reserve BN. The Reserve BN may provide units to the at start forces, up to the limit of 64 units total.

Allied Decisions: None.

Nav,
Just a request from a poor grunt can we lose this the game ends when the German has three turns left. It confuses my poor head and it seems it leaves the axis player with a massive tactical advantage in that they have a whole move when they can do all ridiculous things with no recrimination. If someone could explain how and why it is, in simple terms, I would be most happy. I do not wish to tie up the forum thread but if someone could explain.

G-Man,

The battles are 24 turns long. This means each side goes 24 times (Allies, then Axis, and so on). This does not include the set up turns. So at the end of the 24th turn (the turn where it says "3 turns left"), with each side having gone 24 times, the german player takes a photo of casualties. We do this because otherwise, if the game ended, we wouldn't be able to have that graphic which shows what casualties were taken in detail, or the ability to do screen shots of VP locations. We do "3 turns left" as it gives room for error if a player, through habit or muscle movement, just ends the turn by mistake. We can still open an active turn and get the data.

Does that help?

Cheers mate kingT just PM'd me saying the same. I do get the gist of it and the idea to resolve issues and screenshots. But because the last finishing move is usually the dynamic one, the opening one especially in your scenarios and those of the Scheldt are mainly movement. In these cases would it not be fairer to make the team that moves first random.

I do apologise about mucking up the thread but posted here to get other peoples views I do not wish to continue this on the thread but if anyone wants to PM and discuss I am open to discussion.

G-Man,

No issues discussing here. :D For BA code reasons, too deep to go into, it is a lot of work to change who goes first and who goes last. You have to stick with one or the other. As the Side on the Attack, in larger terms, the Allies go first and the Axis go second. There are advantages to both. For example, in today's battle, an ME, the Allied ability to move first is a definite advantage. But in any case, flipping sides for first and second in a turn isn't possible. In a BA campaign, you have to choose one or the other. You can't make different choices for different battles. Its kind of like the 64 units per side and 128 units total limits. They just can't be gotten around.

Calendar Day 23 NOV 1942
Winter Rains Status is "Partly Cloudy", Today's Weather is Clear
Command Turn
Operational Turn - Battles - Time to Fight!

All,

The Battles for Calendar Day 23 NOV 1942 are ready.

Morge and KingT, you are up! The 23 NOV Battle of Robaa (Hex 2012) begins!

Notify Your Commander and the other GM if your battle has not started in 24 Hours. By "started" I mean the other player has sent you a turn, not just accepted. If this is the case, the Allied or Axis Theater Commander or a an officer designated by them will take their place.

Please post screenshots, casualties and battle results here. As well, chatter and goading are welcome.
Remember the RTT'42 Protocol: at least one turn a day and completion of the Battle in at least 10 days. Players, if your opponent is not achieving this pace, notify your Theater Commander.

*Victory is determined similarly to GJS, except in RTT there are 1700 points on 8 objectives. When the turn counter says "3 Turns left", the Axis should end the scenario. The Side with more than 900 points wins the scenario. If that somehow doesn't occur, then the tiebreaker is who lost more casualties as calculated in point costs.

*Track casualties. Remember, all BG or KG Leaders appear on map as Veterans.

*Per the Global Units list, die rolls have been made for all units which appear on map, and promotions to Veteran have been made for those units whose rolls allowed them to enter this way. Reinforcements cannot enter promoted.

To Download the Battle:

First things first. Follow the steps below. Ignore steps 1-5 if you want to keep your old campaign and start at 6.

into the URL box.

18. There is only 1 Scenario: Robaa23NOV (2012).
19. Or go to the Accept Challenges tab and click the scenario that you're supposed to be fighting (if your opponent has already setup your game).

Anyone who wants to play me please email me or PM me. I have been GMing, writing and designing so much I need a game!
