[Axis Campaign] The Elite Core (beta 1)
Axis Campaign: The Elite Core
Player: Germany
Elite Core beta 1
Unzip the file in \documents\my games\panzer corps\mods
GME is not required nor desired!
If you wish to take a break from a large player army core, this is your chance! The auxiliary units will be much more precious.
Elite Core for Panzer Corps:
The Elite Core for Panzer Corps is an adaptation of the original Elite Core campaign for Panzer General by Gerold Treitler.
Differences between the Panzer Corps and Panzer General version:
- Capturable equipment added; such a unit always appears as an auxiliary when found
- 5 SE units can join your core (ground units and planes); ingame messages announce when an additional SE slot has been enabled
- 33 scenarios instead of 35 (4 different versions of Moscow is a bit too much)
- Planes can be bought and deployed (for your convenience); but still a core without planes is the real intention of this campaign
Special for the Panzer Corps version:
- Taking a VH yields more prestige
- Heroes appear (much) quicker
- Softcap switched off (for the v1.20 game rules)
- Minimal Allied reinforcements added in several scenarios
- Several maps have been made smaller
- No out of bounds AI unit spawn
- Compatible with any personal e-file as long as the unit IDs are respected from the vanilla version
Good to know:
Maximum number of core units (at a certain point in the campaign) = 15 (purchase) + 5 SE (bonus)
Most maps have a decent size in relation to the number of core units
No (evil) triggers of any kind are present to preserve most of the PG feeling
Unnamed cities and rivers in the original version remain unnamed in the conversion (too much time consuming)
This is a straightforward campaign, to do what a General is expected to do...

Small core, large scale...nicee!
Just lower the scale to something like Stalingrad in the GCs or like in Czajanek of your MP '37-39 campaign sometimes. I love detailed battling!
PS: I think the maps' scale of your alternative GC paths was often perfect. I just remember the battles of Mokra, Borowa Gora, and also your Modlin2 again. Something like that again, and fun is guaranteed!

Re: [Axis Campaign] Work in progress ;)
This here is just an adaptation of a mod from Panzer General. A smaller core can make things challenging too. I used to play this mod quite a lot back in those days and now i want to play and cherish it in a Panzer Corps environment.Horst wrote:Small core, large scale...nicee!

In case nobody guessed which one, it is actually the Elite Core campaign that i am talking about. I might do Rommel's way also if there is demand for it; i grind me teeth quite a lot while playing that one.
It might take a while to finish this, but the screenshots to come, can show progress best.

You must have have a way to slow time to be able to do all the work you are doing! Be nice and tell me your secret.
But seriously a new project focusing on smaller core and smaller battles sounds really interesting. People seems to love the huge battles you are producing in LoY but i personally prefer smaller scale maps like you did in your 1939 DLC for example. More content like that would be great. Keep up the good work.

I don't really have much time at hand lately. Fortunately, the latest updates took altogether perhaps one hour.Tarrak wrote:You must have have a way to slow time to be able to do all the work you are doing! Be nice and tell me your secret.

This campaign in particular, took more or less 2 hours to convert all the maps from PG to PC and to write the campaign file. The next step is to check every scenario in detail, correct the mistakes that came with the map conversion, do a few unit tweaks, set goals, correct and fill in scenario parameters and then off to the test phase.

Nikivdd... You make it sound soo simple... But everyone here knows you are a modding Genius!

Re: [Axis Campaign] Work in progress ;)
This looks very promising. I'm also a fan of more detailed battles and the Warsaw screens appear to deliver just that... It should be interesting to follow your progress. Best of luck!

@Iceflame Actually i am not presenting anything new here, just that this custom campaign hasn't been made available for Panzer Corps. It does need a few tweaks as we all know that PG AI is not the same as PC AI.
@Guille I have something far more difficult on the drawing board, but if things improve with free time and all, i will first show Rudankort.

Re: [Axis Campaign] Work in progress ;)
I spend countless hours playing Panzer General from the year of its release until the release of Panzer Corps. Yeah, i'm that old...Just wondering why everyone seems to enjoy converting PG campaigns onto PzC
As i was the computer (a 80486) and internet (no internet actually) noob at that time, Panzer General tought me the meaning of the word "mod". I was awed by the custom campaigns and scenarios for Panzer General. Nowadays I'm merely making a modest contribution to import the PG legacy in Panzer Corps. I am lacking the right words to describe what Panzer General still means to me after all these years, and what drives me to do what i do for Panzer Corps.

Thank You my Belgian Brother for all your hard work and for porting (and editing) the old campaigns into new campaigns for Panzer Corps

I for one think all of your hard work is priceless and enriches the entire community as a whole, and adds thousands of hours of hobby time and relaxation for the community

Re: [Axis Campaign] Work in progress ;)
Many of us are veteran PG players (I am that old also!), who have fond memories of the times enjoyed playing that great game, so we like to play those battles again, this time against a stronger AI enemy...
Yes! I also want to say a big THANK YOU to you, Niki...
