Race to Mars

Post by stephen_tarheel »

Hello board!

I found out about BASPM after checking out "Race to Mars," which is in such an early beta phase that it might be considered a tech demo. Managing through BASPM this morning I wonder how far into the future/paths not taken - working through a mission to human settlement on Mars would be a really cool end game or DLC in my book:)

You are in luck! BASPM is planning to include just that!

Though you might wait a bit.

So far the "roadmap" for BASPM is this:

PArt 1 (now in very advanced early access beta) 1955-1973. It has 3 modes -
A) A sandbox
B) GSA (fictional single global space agency)
C) Historical mode that includes the USA and USSR space agencies locked in a race to the moon moon race (this game mode is still being implemented).

Part2: 1974- to about 2015. Will be centered around space stations and shuttles, though alternative options (moon bases etc) have been hinted at.

Part 3: 2015+ Will be centered around launching missions to other planets, most notably Mars.

Each of the 3 parts will be a fully functional standalone game, but they will be compatible with one another, so once you own all 3 parts, you could play them as one mega campaign from 1955 to Mars and beyond.
So you might have to wait for part 3 to get completed (seeing as we are nearing the release of part 1 in what I'd guess will probably be some 1-2 RL months), but fair enough - its already been announced.
