BA SPM Status

Post by fuzedude »

Gentleman managers of Slitherine,

I ordered download and hardcopy of SPM the day it was announced in October 2013. The charge was long time taken from my charge account. How can this be legal? Battlefront advertises that they do not do that. I have no idea what status is. Can't you report status on your home page rather than having to go to the forum, which also does not give status. I am a long time buyer and am foaming at the mouth to get SPM in my hands. A quick response would be appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work.

First of all, I'm not an employee of Slitherine. However I can provide you with some fast info:

1) BA SPM is still in betatest stage. Thus you will not receive a hard copy until it reaches version 1.0
2) However, there is early access for thse who bought the game. You can download the latest version here:
http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=226&t=48330

Keep in mind that while the game is already playable, it is not finished. There are still new features to be added and some options or gameplay modes are not available yet.

Hello fuzedude,

SPM is under an Early Access Program (EAP) and, as such, is still under development. The boxed version, as stated in the product page, will be delivered once the game is finished. As you might have seen, we have released lots of updates since the EAP started on October 29th and we've even announced a major change in the roadmap back in January, which provides a whole new set of features such as two new 'Race to the Moon' campaigns and multiplayer functionality, among other things. We could implement the three or four minor missing features from the original feature list we promised and declare SPM as "released" but, instead of that, we decided to extend the development time and deliver something a lot bigger. I'm sure you'll agree with me that such a change is well worth the wait :)

The latest update was 0.7.15.1, which was released a couple of weeks ago and that it's available through the auto-updater tool. We're now working on several new game mechanics at the same time (rockets and payloads mix-and-match, random events, new set of missions, etc) and we're planning to release a big update by the end of March. You can always take a look at the changelog to get the latest information. On top of that, I post an update from time to time so that you can get a better glimpse of what's going on in the development process.

Let us know if you still have questions.

Cheers,
Ignacio Liverotti

Hi Fuzedude,

as explained above until the game is complete there is nothing to send you. This is how an EAP works and it is explained in detail on the product pages so it is all very clear before you buy. You already have the digital game to show for it so implying you have nothing is a bit unfair :)

There are regular updates on the forum and the game has greatly expanded beyond what was originally promised and this makes it a much larger project which has taken longer. As the game isn't complete yet we cant even write the manual as the game changes on a weekly basis.

This is the 3rd time you've asked this question and had the same reply so hopefully all is clear now? When the game is complete we'll manufacture the boxed versions and manuals and get them to you.

Thanks for you patience and I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
