IPAD 1944 West - Cassino My Campaign has been undermined :-(

Post by kverdon »

I am playing the DLC 1944 West Campaing and have hit a major problem. I was able to save 4 supply depots in the Anzio mission but I did not receive any mines! I should have had 4 minefields but alas I have none to Deploy. Without the minefields the is no way to get a decisive victory and I get chewed up pretty bad not being able to delay the allies from the east. Am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch in the IPAD version?

Thanks,

Kevin

I have no access to the iPad version, so I can't exactly tell what happened, but a lot of people miss them on the PC version as well, so I will give a few hints to make sure you didn't miss them by accident: Two turns before the end of the scenario, if you have saved any Supply Dumps, a message should pop up to tell you about the awarded minefields and how to get them.

If you have been awarded minefields, they should spawn on the map, in the Northwest (top left) corner. So take a look over there on the last few turns, to make sure you didn't miss them, it has happened to others before. If anyone else knows for sure if they spawn on the iPad as well, please let us know.

On the PC you must double-click every minefield to add them to your reserves so that they are then taken to the next scenario (you don't have to deploy them there, you can keep them for later scenarios as well...). Not sure how that works on the iPad, but I assume tapping will work?

It is possible to get a decisive victory in Cassino without the mine fields, though the mine fields certainly help (and the minefields have more impact if used in this scenario than used in any other scenario in the campaign). I have found the key to avoid being chewed up is to pick the places you fight carefully. Cassino and Monte Cassino are definitely harder fights than most of the 1942 west scenarios.

The other player mentioned how to make sure you get the mine fields in Anzio.

And one must look for them in their deployment lineup to place them.

Thanks all, I had missed the mine pickup message in Anzio. Replayed the last 2 turns of Anzio and was able to pick them up. They definately help buy the time to get your reinforcements to Casino to stabilize your line. Redid Casino and ended in much better shape. Thanks again for all the comments.

I argue against that - (PC version) I accidently redeployed them in Anzio, thinking I could put them back in reserve again and then lost them (my earliest save was on turn 1 and I couldn't be bothered to play the scenario again). Ended up with a DV, for a cost of 7500 prestige!

No, Dieppe is harder. But both those are much easier than Mons18, the scenario from the worst part of hell.
