Battle line and re-rolls.

Post by Robert241167 »

Hi everyone

I'm taking a leaf out of Mr Dalby's book and actually reading the rules before my next competition.

Well I'm as far in as page 24 and have a question:

The 5th bullet point down says "If a BATTLE LINE of mixed quality troops re-rolls, it re-rolls as the worst quality battle group in the line.".

Now am I missing a trick? I've never known a battle line testing for anything as a whole so how would it be getting any re-rolls?

Cheers

Rob

Hi again

Gordon Jamieson e-mailed me the answer as the site was down.

If I'd just read ahead to page 41 where it gives the answer re artillery and battle wagons in a battle line.

Good job I don't possess much of either.

Yep. Artillery or battle wagons force the CMT to perform any move. Then if the battle line includes any undrilled BGs of any type - even skirmishers, the roll is eight, and if any BG is poor you must reroll 6s.

Ha, so drilled poor artillery in a battle line of undrilled infantry require an 8 and re-roll 6's

You laugh until my 3 BGs of light drilled artillery interspersed with Jannisaries start advancing toward you with a KILLING zone. A veritable cone of fire zones. (Ancient dbm list reference)
