If you "slog" and fight methodically, the Crete game is not terribly difficult. The enemies are very spread out so just when you think you can race in for the kill, another enemy MG pops up and stitches up your attack.

Help please.

I can't get through even the first battle. My paratroops are scattered everywhere. I get slaughtered at every turn by enemy troops. Are others having to restart battle over and over in order to get more favorable distribution of supply drop locations??

Even with that, I still haven't come close to winning.

You have to concentrate your forces into combat teams of 2 or 3 and then isolate enemy groups--do not go into built-up areas with individual teams or you will get nailed

I feel that this is probably not possible on the Hard setting unless you are very very lucky with the supply drop (which I have never been). I seem to remember though that you are allowed to progress even after failing this mission so it is probably expected to be failed.
