Re: Allied corps or Afrika korps
Well, i was a little disappointed in Allied Corps. There was just too few scenarios, all of the northwest europe fighting seemed very rushed
Liked the scripted scenarios in Afrika Corps, but havent actually gotten around to finishing it
Think you can safely buy either of them though, there is no such thing as TOO MUCH Panzer Corps.

If you're into turn based strategy games, you will have a blast. Whatever you buy first, you will come back for more

Re: Allied corps or Afrika korps
I've just finished AC and restarted AK. Both are good in different ways, though I have slight preference for AK.
Though I wasn't so impressed with AC when I first played it, I thoroughly enjoyed AC this time round. It was never too hard but always posed some challenge. I used an exclusively British core force, but this may have helped me get to understand the strengths and limitations better than introducing the US forces while still learning about the British ones.
Personally I like the way AK handles the reward units and prestige bonuses, and there are some very good scenarios that involve trying to do several conflicting things at once. Despite having played AK several times now, yesterday I managed to create a disastrous outcome in Second Offensive. Despite a minor victory, my forces were so badly battered and short of prestige that I couldn't even field a full force for the next scenario. I don't normally like restarting a scenario part way through - I usually feel I should live with my mistakes - but some things are too much to cope with. I blame the general!
I also enjoy DLC West, but recently found 43 East a bit hard work, though I have enjoyed it previously.
The bad news, this isn't a clear recommendation for you, but the good news is that the challenges and enjoyment seems to change over time, so the different scenarios and games can still be enjoyable after many playthroughs.

I just finished my first run-though of Allied Corps and I must say that while it was fun it was slightly disappointing. First off I think you should have to choose to be the Americans or British not have a combo of both. Then it is basically a linear path, which is not like Panzer Corps which had many different options. It would have been better if there were more missions or choices to be made or more of an alternate ending campaign. Also it just seems that there should have been at least 4 or 5 more missions after the U.S. joined the war as it was sort of hard to get any to have units with good experience. There certainly should have been more missions in Italy, and France.
All in all it was fun, but I feel that it was rushed and could have been made better and more complete.
I have started AK but noticed that prestige is very hard to come by. Looking forward to progressing through this campaign.

I recommend East with all the DLCs, then West (more difficult), then AK (the most challenging and where a lot of *experience* is needed).
I will wait on buying Allied Corps until there are DLCs...which are much more reasonable and fun than the base campaign.

Thats interesting, Ive found west to be much easier than east. I agree AK should be played by players that have a good understanding of the game due to the more complicated scenarios.wargovichr wrote:I recommend East with all the DLCs, then West (more difficult), then AK (the most challenging and where a lot of *experience* is needed).

Well this is actually depicting history fairly well. The british did have more time to get experience, while the green US forces were just getting their first experience.ruggs215 wrote: Also it just seems that there should have been at least 4 or 5 more missions after the U.S. joined the war as it was sort of hard to get any to have units with good experience. .

Re: Allied corps or Afrika korps
Im not a fan of AK at all ,have started it a few times but never finish it. Like others, AC could have been made much better, the British in North Africa had far to many battles over the same maps, gets rather dull. And I would have rather seen the major battles from D-Day on broken down in the two battles not the single ones used. However having said that, I really enjoy AC. Shame doenst look like it will ever get a DLC. With the DLC being hands down the best of the lot.
Re: Allied corps or Afrika korps
I agree to ruggs215. AK seems to be the hardest campain in PC. You need to choose your units very well as your prestige is limited. Changing goals as well as "special tasks" in all scenarios that are needed to recieve a DV need a higher experince in game play.
From my experience the first scenarios in AC are very simple compared to AF and allow you to collect enough prestige to prepare for furture scanarios in the campain.

I bet that if a poll were done, Afrika Korps would be one of the best expansions for Panzer Corps while Allied Corps would be the least good of all of them. Personally I rank West DLC 42-43 and Afrika Korps as the best.

Re: Allied corps or Afrika korps
The best expansion is none at all, the vanilla campaign trumps both AK and AC. AK has too little prestige, and AC the scenarios are all (that I've played) far too easy or far too hard.
If you consider mods as expansions, then they win by 100 miles

Whenever I get stressed in the East I go to AK for a break more often that AC and West. Last time I tried Vanilla I wasn't that impressed. I have changed my mind over which I liked more than once in the past year or two, but at the moment AK is my favourite, followed by DLC East which is driving me mad but keeping me interested.

Playing Vanilla instead of Afrika Korps is like going back to Sarah Jessica Parker after tasting Scarlett Johansson.

Poor Sarah doesn't stack up to well there. Not really her fault though. Once you taste the sweet stuff, nothing else will do.
