Strange prestige behavior in 1.14 (acting as 1.20)

Post by timek28 »

Hi,

I've been playing LoV mod that includes around 60 core units. Some of these units include battleships as well as rail guns. I don't know exact value of battleships but I know that rail guns (2 of them) are worth around 10.000 prestige. Now, this is by design - I didn't buy any of those units, they where just added to the core by mod creator. What is weird and what happens is that after these undoubtedly vaulable units are added, prestige gain (per day), and for city hexes reduces drastically. I would understand if I played 1.20 and this happened, however I don't understand why this happens even in 1.14. To make things more confusing, when I put 1.14 in advanced settings almost all other features of 1.20 are present like surrenders giving prestige, and replacements causing unit suppression.

I triple checked weather I play 1.14, and I do. I will check again just in case :)

Are you playing the Mod through GME?

No it is a LoV mod that doesn't use GME by default: viewtopic.php?f=147&t=39015

I use the LOV through the GME.

They change allot of rules in their Mods. Try asking on the DMP forum.

The gamerules114.pzdat file included in the LoV campaign gives no real clue why the prestige cap rules could apply IF someone has actually started the campaign with the 1.14 switch. The soft cap setting is turned off like in the vanilla gamerules114.pzdat file. The difference in LoV is basically only the AirZOC setting that allows aircrafts to block each other.
The LoV file misses some new settings, like MaXShootingStrength, but these shouldn't really matter for the prestige. As far as I know, if settings are missing in a mod's rule file, it will be read from the vanilla file then.

They obviously did tweak prestige settings. Too bad there is not enough testing weather the prestige mechanics work.
The core is very large, includes battleships and rail guns, so no wonder there where some weird prestige problems.

I've reported the issue to Nikki and he changed some settings in equipment file (basically devaluing ships and rail guns)
so now prestige is working better. I guess moders cannot have in mind every potential issue with mod. That is why probably
LoV is version 0.1 :) Still, a great and a very large mod :)

No, they haven't changed anything prestige-wise. If you select 1.14 rules, the gamerules114.pzdat is used and if you select 1.20 then the gamerules.pzdat file. Both files are included in the LoV installation, but the prestige settings are untouched. I've been modifying the game for a year and have compared the vanilla and LoV files. The prestige income by flags 50/100 is untouched too. There is no other magic possible that could modify something like that rule-wise, beside a game bug maybe.
There is still the possibility though to reward or reduce prestige by scenario script if you capture certain flags of course. The Weserubungplus scenario in LoV reduces your prestige over time by script as you might have experienced.

If you know for sure that the 1.14 switch was used when you started the campaign, then upload an old saved game before the equipment changes where you are going to capture a flag, so I can check it out if the same happens for me. I'm currently playing LoV vanilla too at the time.
A saved game includes the currently used equipment.pzeqp file. A changed/new equipment.pzeqp file is only used by the game if you switch to a new scenario.

PS: Wait a moment, have you installed this 4 GB patch included in the LoV installation? I didn't, but maybe this could cause some unexpected mess-up.
