How to disable a faction in XML?

How can I disable a faction?
I know that I can overwrite/modify a faction in the game's XML files. But I want to disable it - what is the easiest way to do so?

Upon creating a game, click advanced options. Then leave the last faction slot closed. Fill in the remaining AI factions with the factions with which you do want to play. In that game, the faction that you neglected will be nonexistent. This is not a permanent fix, rather the user's way to choose which factions play in a given game.

If you wish to permanently erase a faction from the game altogether ... I don't know anything about that.

I hope you figure it out. If you do, I'll be paying attention to this thread out of curiosity.

Also, forgive any unintended appearance of condescension on my part. Sometimes I assume that people don't know some things so that my explanation will be thorough. It's just my weird communication.
