That really looks awesome Adherbal, thanks.
Can you give us any idea of the tech specs for the game yet? Are there settings that will reduce the level of graphic luxury if my computer struggles?

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
We still have optimalisations to do so it's too early to set any recommended requirements, but in the very worst case there is the option to switch to the 2D boardgame style visuals (also used in the strategic overview map) which should work on very low spec machines. That mode is mainly designed for those who prefer this style of visuals, but it has the added benefit of going easy on system resources.

Thank you, hopefully be fine

Gents:
Curious, but why is the tank model show in the video so much larger than the village and terrain features? Looks like a scale issue?
Also, is it possible to have more than 1 unit per hex? Realistically, you should be able to do some type of stacking?
Bumping up my post!

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
Well, that's not the part of the game I'm dealing with, so the following is rather my personal opinion than some kind of official statement:kool_kat wrote: Curious, but why is the tank model show in the video so much larger than the village and terrain features? Looks like a scale issue?
!
IMO it's more a conscious decision than an issue. When I remember the various strategy games I played over the years it's similar in quite a large number of those, probably even in the majority of them. From various Civ parts to EU, Spartan or PG/PzC the units are usually bigger than map features like terrain, cities etc.
Units are the main elements of the game which the players orders to move around, while terrain etc has a certain impact on what's happening. It's certainly different in other genres (simulation, ego shooter) where you need to have 1:1 scale to have the game working.
One could certainly look whether the specfic scaling in OOB needs to be improved, but I would not view the pure fact that in a war/strat game like this units are bigger as a problem per se.
Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
Big titles like the Total War series (since Rome) too. It`s an in game convention for this genre that goes back a long time so frankly I stopped noticing it as such. In the end I consider this a sort of art (transposing reality) so the thing that matters imo is the general esthetic feeling of the "game", more than anything else. Maybe things can be adjusted slightly in one direction or another in OoB:P, but, for what it`s worth, based on the shots and videos released I think the game looks good as it is.From various Civ parts to EU, Spartan or PG/PzC the units are usually bigger than map features like terrain, cities etc.
Out of curiosity, what`s the area you`re contributing to?Well, that's not the part of the game I'm dealing with
Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
I'm doing 3d modelling mostly, but I don't determine things like the scale of units vs. other map objects for example

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
What type of tank is that?
I don't remember that silhouette in the Pacific.

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
It looks like a T29 Heavy Tank to me. I am not sure about it's presence in the pacific tho, it's not the Theater of War i am most familiar with tbh.Razz1 wrote:What type of tank is that?

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat
Yep, T29 Heavy Tank. It wasn't actualy used in the war, but the game allows (limited) access to these and other prototype/late-war designs such as the T28 Super Heavy Tank in the later "what-if" scenarios such as the invasion of Japan.
