First impressions on the Science fiction/lore etc.

Post by eidolad »

First time player and avid military science fiction reader (meaning books filled with lots of guns and space opera themes) I would like to comment/compliment the lore/background/military tech enclosed in the game:

1. I would like to humbly submit a rewrite for the intro movie: "It is the year 2107 AD, and babes with Euro/Aussie accents are TAKING OVER. You will submit." All space operas should be voiced by hot women. Bravo.

2. The implications of what is happening on Earth's surface, while the various prima donna factions go off to the colonization wars on another planet, is quite fascinating/unsettling. Suggest a read of the timeline in the game manual if you haven't already.

I really hope this game sells a ton. I'm already looking forward to whatever Earth's children will meet when they return to Earth, or find out what arrives FROM Earth.

Perhaps surely any humans dumb enough to leave their home planet to...whatever...deserve what is coming next.

3. Some of the future military tech is extremely kick ass. But actually of them all, my favorite is the initial defensive structure.

The adapting defense installation that move walls around struck me with cool. I can just see the teenager who didn't really understand what this meant: "No! Don't take the wall with my Milla Jovovich poster on it!"

(the board wouldn't allow me to either upload the desired Milla image nor post the url oh well)

To avoid a wall of words or tech tree spoilers I won't drone on about the other tech.

4. The concept of a future faction led by a "Brittany Spears chick hooked on a Religion of Herself". Outstanding extrapolation from today's pop iconism/conservativism/memes.

5. First Commandment of Colonization If Thou Can See the Local WildLife from Orbit, Thou needest combat armor.

Hmm...let's see, ah! What a nice planet we have here. Let's set down without really thinking about those *dinosaur* sized creatures roaming about. Our colonial troopers and their spiffy rifles have got this covered.

Um, not. Our third city was completely flattened. Guess we should have brought tanks.

Basically, there could be a TON of content/interest to be discovered roaming around on this planet...I really hope the game sells well enough for an expansion etc. to bring the potential out. I hope the suggestion box is overflowing, if not, I'll just head right over to wherever suggestions should be posted.
