Sealion '45?

Post by BiteNibbleChomp »

Saw the scenario "Sealion45" in the campaign trees today - how does this compare to the '40 version. (Other than that it is 5 years later!) Decided to use cheat codes to get my core force off the Eastern Front at the end of 1943, and so it now is fighting in Italy. Really looking forward to invading them Brits!

If you defeat both the Russians and the Western allies in 1945 you get the chance to invade the UK in 1945.
This is the only scenario I have been completely unable to win.
I have been waiting for somebody to post an AAR of this one, since as far as I can tell, it is virtually impossible to win.
The Allies seem to have 20+ tanks, the M26 being average, with everyone having at least 3 stars.
The Allies air force contains jets as well as the more conventional a/c.
You are outnumbered everywhere, no need to elaborate on the allied navy.
The map is huge with many objectives you must take.
I go into this scenario with 20k prestige and it quickly evaporates.
Lots of fun but pretty frustrating to fight this one.

better to have gained sufficient experience for all your units.
and upgrade your tanks to as much as possible - have a springle of Tiger 2 and Maus, only then you can knock off tanks with ease.

the secret is to protect your fleet from British navy.
also there was a thread warning about the impending reinforcement at around turn 16 of massive US forces - you need to swing your navy to counter the landing - or you can rush to bottle them within the eastern tip (above Essex)- guard the land 'exit' with 2 tanks n artilley and you will have bottled them up real good.

Two things you need to do to win this scenario:

1. Don't put your troops into the landing crafts in the channel until the 2nd or 3rd turn or they will get beat up. You first need to deal with the British Navy and Air Force. You also need to keep your subs safe for the second.

2. You need to attack the American fleet BEFORE they can land their troops. They appear on turn 17. If you have sufficient bombers and subs, you can destroy or badly damage most of them.

And you will still need to go into this scenario with a decent core with lots of heavy armor and artillery.

You may also want to take a look at this thread where Sea Lion 45 was also discussed (beginning 29 December):
