While the warring power of Western Europe was drained by the violent Valois-Habsburg conflict and the nascent religious tension between Catholics and Protestants, the Ottoman Turks were on the ascendant in Central and Eastern Europe. In 1526, led by sultan Suleiman 'the Magnificent', they turned their immense military resources against a weakened Hungary. As they marched up the Danube valley toward Buda, the Rumelian army in the lead and the the Anatolian army in the rear, the Hungarians gathered to defend their capital. At Mohacs on 29 August 1526 the young Hungarian king, Louis II, the last native holder of the Crown of St Stephen, led his troops on a bold all-out assault against the Rumelian army, hoping to overwhelm it before the Anatolian army could fully deploy. It was to be the last hurrah of Medieval Hungary.

no fog of war, no double moves or the bey of bali's troops would arrive too early.

Designer's notes:

Mohacs features repeated cavalry and infantry assaults against the Ottoman's grand battery, backed by janissary musketry, in the centre of the Rumelian army, before the Hungarians were engulfed by Ottoman reserves and flanking attacks.

New accessory counters are used to create the field of fire of artillery and the muskets' close range firepower. they also work as 'negative ottoman points'. this allows for long lasting fighting in front of the ottoman defensive line which was the focal point of the battle.

A map overlay was used to keep the two wings of the Hungarian army apart. that would prevent players from using the hedgehog tactics.
