1. What is the difference between regular infantry(Wehrmacht) and Gebrigsjager, other than terrain movement. Do reg infantry have any advantage over the other, for example in city fighting?
2. How do i rename units ingame?
A few random questions.

Re: A few random questions.
rename = select unit and then alt + n (I think!!)
Re: A few random questions.
Basically, they only differ in movement type. The biggest advantage of the Wehrmacht infantry is that they can be upgraded later into Grenadiere for little extra cost (40 prestige I think), while upgrading the Gebirgsjäger into Grenadiere costs a lot more (167 prestige, you pay the full cost). Upgrading to other types of infantry is equally expensive for both, so it helps to plan ahead.PantherII wrote:1. Blathergut is correct, you have to select the unit, than press Alt + n2. How do i rename units ingame?

* Gebirgsjager have +1 Soft Attack higher than regular infantry.
This despite being light infantry without the relatively heavy equipment normally embedded into any army unit (at least the German army): antitank weapons, mortar squads, etc. The men must be able to carry all their gear without relying on the transport lorries that are a main reason other infantry can't move quickly across uneven terrain, so it must come from superior training. You really should think of Gebirgsjager as elite units, even though their role (moving without heavy weapons) prevents them from having very impressive stats...
* Gebirgsjager have -1 Ground Defense lower than regular infantry.
This ties directly into the above - being forced to make do what you can carry yourself isn't exactly conducive to repulsing enemy attacks. Gebirgsjager are specialized for uneven terrain, so you should keep them in the hills in order to not waste their advantages.
* Gebirgsjager have +2 Air Defense higher than regular infantry.
I imagine veteran mountain men have an easier time finding cover than city slickers or farmhands fresh from the draft...

Less apparent (though very obvious at the same time

* Gebirgsjager have a pickaxe for their movement type rather than the footsteps of regular infantry
The very basis for ever having these units: their ability to ignore the higher movement cost of hills and such
Completely invisible in the UI (though already mentioned) is the following difference:
* Gebirgsjager is not part of the "regular" series of infantry.
Being part of a "series" is what enables you to upgrade without paying full cost. This is what ThvN means by "be upgraded later into Grenadiere for little extra cost" - Wehrmacht Inf is part of a series called "regular" together with Grenadiers, 43 Wehrmacht Inf, and 43 Grenadiers; a substantial advantage when it comes to keeping your infantry competetive during later scenarios. On the other hand, Gebirgsjager is part of a series called "Mnt" together with only 43 Gebirgsjager. (The only way to find out which series a unit belongs to is by checking the equipment file directly). I even checked - no, US Rangers aren't part of the "Mnt" series - they have their own - so you can't even hope to capture a unit of Rangers and cheaply upgrade them to, say, 43 Gebirgsjager...
