Late C16th gendarmes
Any suggestions for a nice late C16th gendarme lancer figure in 15mm? (Well 18mm really <g>)

Eek... not that many companies do that period at all, in my experience. Mostly you have Essex, Essex, Essex, and a handful of companies that insist on having their "Italian Wars" Spaniards in Morions. I'm pretty sure none of the usual 15's that are really 18-20mm (OG15's, Quartermaster/Falcon, Xyston, Testudo) have anything suitable for late C16th Gendarmes. I remember what a headache it was finding proper post-1550 Landsknechts.nikgaukroger wrote:Any suggestions for a nice late C16th gendarme lancer figure in 15mm? (Well 18mm really <g>)
Hopefully someone comes up with a better answer, as I'd be interested too.

Yeah, there really isn't much for the later C16th really
The Essex stuff is very generic so I'm looking for something with more character if at all possible.
Interesting - look better than the Essex ones, however, getting Old Glory is the UK is a bit of a pain IIRC.Sarmaticus wrote: Old Glory 15s have a late renaissance gendarme with lance and pistols http://www.oldglory15s.com/Generic-Rena ... m?page=all

Re: Late C16th gendarmes
The Museum are too early I'm afraid - which is a shame as they are nice figures.
Be interested in seeing the Black Hat ones though - suspect they are a bit early as well but worth looking into.

Re: Late C16th gendarmes
Guess what I am looking for is something like the French gendarmes illustrated in these pictures:

Re: Late C16th gendarmes
Now that may be what I want - if they'll do it on an unarmoured horse, will drop them a line.
Much appreciated

They give a horse model number on the website which implies to me its separate - emailed them anyway so will see what they say.

Yes, it's a two piece casting and 15mm.co.uk have been helpful to me in the past about supplying the horse I wanted for the required rider.

Re: Late C16th gendarmes
TTG napoleonics are true 15mm. I don't know about their renaissance ranges.
Some of the Tin Soldier conquistadores would pass for mid C16 troops in morions (though some have quilted armour) but the gendarme in that range has a round shield

They'll do different horses so I think I'll give the 15mm.co.uk figures a shot.
Thanks for the suggestions guys
