About failure

Post by neoxul »

Hello
I was wondering why a failure always means to lose so much in R&D.
In my memory, in BARIS a loss in R&D always came from a catastrophic failure (meaning a death during the mission)
Here even when launching a simple explorer mission that failed, I lose (in my opinion) too much of R&D. A few percentage why not, but 30/40 % is way too much.

Is there any idea to change something about this ?

Thanks for your answer !

Hello neoxul,

Welcome to the forums. I'm planning to tweak the failure system in a future update, as I'm not very font of its current state either. There are some community members who are giving me a hand by writing a list of possible failures, so that we can show more information in the mission outcome screen. The idea is to introduce failure types as well and penalize the player depending on them using a system pretty similar to what you suggested (i.e., catastrophic failures would have a greater impact than regular ones).
