Basically, Eve Online just launched their Trinity upgrade, with "premium graphics content" for those with the latest graphics cards.
The autopatcher just updated the "classic" Eve, the gameplay part, and if you wanted the Premium Graphics, there was a very convenient feature to DL it as a separate package in the background. Then when the DL was complete, you hit Patch, and it all very smoothly quit the game, and executed the upgrade patch for you.
Smoothly except for somehow deleting C:\boot.ini
