Competitors,

Thank you for joining the Rise of Rome tournament. If you have not joined, this tournament is full but is accepting reserves. If you enter as a reserve, you are guaranteed a spot in the next tournament I organize. Rules are below.

Important dates:
- Nov. 16: pool stage begins (arrange your own matches via thread and PM)
- Dec. 15: players who have not completed at least 2 matches subject to review and possible replacement by player from reserve (see below)
- Jan. 14: pool stage ends (you have just over 8 weeks to complete 5 mirror matches; if all are complete before this date, we will begin quarter-finals earlier)
- Jan. 15: quarter-finals begin
- Jan. 30: semi-finals begin
- Feb. 15: finals begin

Structure of tournament:
- There are 4 pools of 6 players each
- Each player will be assigned a random army from a select list of Rise of Rome armies (I probably should have posted this list earlier)
- You will play each player in your pool once in a mirror match, one with your drawn army, one with your opponent's drawn army
- 3 pts awarded for win, 1 pt awarded for draw of any sort (e.g. if you win both games in your mirror match, you recieve 6 pts)
- Top 2 players in each pool advance to quarter-finals
- Quarter-finals/semi-finals/finals all decided by mirror match where combined scores decide winner on percentage (e.g. if player A's combined BPs for both matches is 93/100 (93%) and player B's is 70/76 (92.1%), player B is victorious)
- Tie-breakers for those in pool stage will first be decided on head-to-head results as described above. If this maintains a tie, each player's total BPs for all 10 matches will be calculated to decide winner based on criteria as described above.
- Games not completed by deadlines are subject to adjudication

Reserves:
- There is currently 1 reserve player (Ericdoman1)
- If by Dec. 15, any player has not completed at least 2 matches, the player may be subject to replacement based on an assessment of how likely the player is to complete the remaining matches by Jan. 14

Arranging matches:
- Players are responsible for arranging matches
- Post challenge in this thread AND PM to ensure your opponent saw it
- It is advised to begin at least 2 mirror matches against 2 opponents immediately to ensure players have head start on pool stage deadline

Rules of games:
- Armies will consist of 500 pts
- You may customize your army before each match
- Fog of war and double moves will be used

Posting results:
- Winners of each individual match are responsible for posting result in this thread; I will periodically update the results table
- Please use this format:

This is the first update to the tournament standings current to Nov. 24 at 9:00pm Eastern Time.

Pool A: 2/30 matches complete
Only 2 matches complete in a tough division featuring 4 players who have competed in a Div A Digital League section this season. RexHurley and Cavehobbit have split their series although RexHurley has the edge in any possible tie-breaker between the 2 players.

Pool B: 5/30 matches complete
5 matches complete thus far, with Stockwellpete taking an early lead with 13pts (4-1-0). Voskarp is on the board with 1pt (0-1-1). Okie currently sits last with 2 losses although both come at the hands of pool-leading Stockwellpete.

Pool C: 1/30 matches complete
Only 1 match complete thus far with Mchargmg defeating ZumHeuriger in the home match to take an early lead. Pool C only features 1 Div A player (Turk1964) but is probably the deepest and least certain pool.

Pool D: 13/30 matches complete
The most complete pool thus far, Jonathan4290 sits atop the leaderboard with 12pts (4-0-0), prompting many to consider whether the tournament is in fact rigged. Batesmotel sits in 2nd place with 9pts (3-0-1) along with Cunningcairn (3-0-5) although it will be difficult for Cunningcairn to advance after losing series to Jonathan4290 and Batesmotel. Iandavidsmith has yet to complete a game, and could immediately complicate the situation with his first results.
