Infantry & tank corps attacking air units????

Post by Ryben »

I´ve had several questions after my first game and i prefer to post one question at a time to focues on the question itself. If moderators think that´s too many posts and prefer to post a single message please tell me.

I am shocked. I´ve seen infantry and tank units ATTACKING fighter units. How could this be???

I understand a land unit could defend itself from air attacks but never seen an infantry corps attacking planes on air. Maybe they are attacking the planes on ground? Or it´s a bug? Do they have AA missiles? Kinda strange.

I´m playing with the 1.04 patch.

I think it Rudel who said "The ultimate in air superiority is a tank parked in the middle of the runway."

The air base is being attacked. And there is abundant historical precedent for that :)

Ask any US serviceman (or civilian employee) who was present when the VC rocketed Tan Son Nhut. They'll tell you just how vulnerable an air base is :)

It makes sense, it make sense...I must admit that i like the idea of air units representing the airbase but i find a bit strange that you could "rebase" them at any terrain (including forest and mountains!). Well, maybe fighters doesn´t need much more than a flat surface to land but a bomber fleet would need something better. But, OK, since there´s no "airbase" terrain i could use some abstraction.

Btw...wouldn´t be a good idea that fighters and bombers show their operative range on the map when you click on them? Sometimes i had no idea who´s on range and who´s not.

Thanks for the response,
