Editor issues

Post by Supremo »

In designing a new scenario, I have encountered the following issues with the Editor:

1) The USSR "85 mm M1939 AT" gun included in the anti-tank class is actually the antiaircraft version of the gun (and is the same as the "85 mm M1939" gun included in the anti-aircraft class). The 85 mm divisional gun (D-44) was a different beast than the 85 mm air defense gun M1939 (52-K).

2) Placing Italian Saharan Infantry into a game results in Sahariana recon vehicles appearing instead during game play.

I hope Slitherine will address these issues in a future patch.

For units in dual (or possibly triple) multipurpose mode, you need to create a new unit for each extra mode. It comes clearer if you take a look at the equipment.pzeqp file.
The editor will show all units incl. modes of units that are normally not purchaseable, so the designer can decide in which mode the unit will start with. In game, you or the AI can still switch at own pleasure back and forth again. For example, it's useful if you create a defensive line with 8.8 cm Flak 36 in AT/Pak mode right from beginning when you know the enemy will attack it right from turn 1 on.
The Sahariana unit can switch between vehicle and infantry mode.

Thanks for the clarification. Although it is true that a 52-K could be used as an AT weapon in a pinch, still, when trying to create a historically-based scenario where D-44's were in use rather than 52-Ks, it is disconcerting that the game allows switching of modes which could not have occurred in actuality.
