3 Games from Southampton

Post by madaxeman »

A textbook Italian Wars French army, containing the mandatory Mikes Models Swiss Pike Kiel takes on three opponents in one day in the Southern League round held in Southampton.

See all the usual stuff, with the added bonus this time of a new commander for the French Army being deployed and using his extensive linguistic skills to explain his success - or lack of it perhaps..?

So here I am on day 4 of the longest and worst flu I've ever had and - lo, three madaxeman battle reports show up - excellent as always. Thanks for brightening my day, Tim.

Tim
Great reports. I apologise for my earlier post where I derided the subtlety of your tactical plan. You did have a plan and it did have all the subtlety we should expect of one of your plans.

So Frenchies do well if the Swiss win and don't if the Swiss do badly - sounds about right to me :-)

Maybe I ought to do this army - about my level of tactical genius needed it would appear

Well at least Tim's Swiss made it into contact. In one game that weekend I had two Swiss kiels break from artillery fire before they got a chance to poke anything.

And fine sight that must have been :)

Thanks for the high standards of your reports once again, great pictures and glad to see I am not the only one who is inept at rolling dice. Don't feel too bad I once sent a unit of Pikes into a unit of skirmishing javelin troops in ancients and lost the impact  Some days the dice Gods like you and other days.....
Congratulations on your third place win seeing as the Swiss didn't help you to get further

If your Swiss don't live up to expectations I understand that you call them Kuhschnaggler (or more precisely whatever the plural of that is)
