ALEXANDRIAN BATTLES: 3rd SERIES SAGALASSUS AND THE JAXARTES

Two minor battles from the Alexandrian wars. Sagalassus was a citadel fortress of one of fiercest Pisidian tribes. Rather than trying to endure a long siege, the Sagalassians came out to meet Alexander in hilly, broken open country. In this scenario they are reinforced by the remnants of Memnon's greek mercenaries and satrapal troops from the Granicus. The scenario also features artillery on both sides - the famed 'oxybeles' for Alexander and mobile war towers for the Pisidians. Best played from 'free deployment'....

The Jaxartes was Alexander's first encounter with Skythian [virtually] all-cavalry army, including cataphracts, horse archers and most variants in between! The Macedonian light division has crossed the river and finds itself surrounded by light horse archers. The phalanx and heavy cavalry, as well as the Macedonian artillery, must hurry to their rescue! This scenario offers multiple river crossing points and tactical options for both sides, and is best played from the historical start-point.
