that light foot thing n open terrain

Post by papsterdino »

On page 64 A battle group entirely of light foot etc etc

Is the open terrain section relevant to the lght foot, or the target or both

If you have a light foot battle group part in and part out of terrain and capable of wheeling to charge the flank of enemy also part in and part out of terrain, can it only charge the parts of the enemy in the terrain clarification please .

I believe it is the target troops that have to be in terrain to be eligible to be charged by LF.

So if an enemy BG is partly in terrain, that part can be charged. But if the LF would contact any part of a non-skirmisher BG that is in the open then the charge is not permitted.

Situations may vary on the table to blur the edges but that's my take on it.

I would agree. If you look at the definition of 'open terrain' on page 143, V2, POAs in 'open terrain' don't count if the base is even partly in other terrain, which is what the LF need to give them any chance. And page 26 says that only bases partly in terrain are affected. So as long as you only charge bases wholly or partly in the terrain, you're good.
