Scottish League 2014

Post by AlanCutner »

The competition is approaching the conclusion of a third successful year, and its time to start considering the format of the Scottish League for 2014. Changes introduced this year included
  • * An additional round hosted by Elgin Wargames Club. This proved to be the most popular round of the year.

    * Inclusion of a FoG-R round.

    * Use of FoG-AM version 2.

    * The random 0-10 minutes at end of each game was adjusted to a definite 10 minutes to provide a little extra time to allow for extra rules queries.

    * Judging of overall champion on best 3 scores. Introduced due to uncertainty on popularity of FoG-R and the Elgin round – though both proved a success.

    * Judging of team champions on best 4 scores – same reason as above.

The current proposal for 2014 is
1. This year Glasgow, Perth, West Lothian and Elgin each acted as hosts. It would be great if another club/group would like to join in and play hosts.

2. Maintain at least the 5 rounds held this year.

3. Introduce a second round of FoG-R. This is likely to replace one of the existing FoG-AM rounds, ie. 3 FoG-AM and 2 FoG-R if we keep to 5 rounds overall. This would be made up of
§ FoG-AM Ancients
§ FoG-AM Medieval
§ FoG-AM Open
§ FoG-R Early
§ FoG-R Late

4. For the individual championship allow the worst score to be dropped (eg. best 4 out of 5). This would mean that to obtain a maximum score, a player would have to compete in at least 2 FoG-AM and at least 1 FoG-R round.

5. For the team championship allow the worst team score to be dropped, as this year.

6. Revert to random finish to games.

7. Competition dates to be decided once clubs/groups confirm they’re willing to be hosts.

If there is another ruleset you’d like to see used let me know – if it looks like it would attract enough entries I’ll do my best to include it (It doesn’t have to be FoG!!!). If you don’t already play in the Scottish League why not, what can be changed to encourage you to enter?
