Function Keys on Lenovo Computer

Purchased the BA base game couple of months ago and find it quite enjoyable. I have it installed on a Lenovo Ideapad U410 laptop that unlike typical keyboards on other laptops I have used, I have to hold the Fn key down to get the normal F1 - F12 responses. For example to a copy in Excel instead of just hitting the F4 key, I need to hold Fn key down and then hit F4 key . I assume someone thought that it would make life easier but not really.

Question is that some of the keyboard hotkey commands that other have posted require things like Shift+F4(If I remember right it give you a ground level view) but in my case this does nothing on this laptop. Any suggestions how it can be addressed or am I just out of luck like a M4 cresting a hill an seeing a platoon of Panthers facing him a 100 meters away?

Hmmm - I can't think of any keys (other than development debug ones) that use SHIFT+FN. The ground level view is, errrr, SHIFT+3 IIRC.
