I believe Ian only has 2 armies to choose from, the rest are in storage. Not that it would make any difference. If he had 2,000 armies to choose from it mwould still be French b'Oredanance

And Graham is probably confused as half the v2 changes were to stop him using Dom Rom.

So come on guys - the sooner all lists are in the sooner we can have R&Rs.

Hopefully those who can will be giving a gentle nudge.

Presumably the organisers have contact details for all competitors so hopefully an email prompt should do the job.

Good to know that you have all of the Ancient lists in - shame about the Medievals. This must be pretty frustrating for you though Andy. It's a pretty thankless task in the first place.

Maybe the BHGS should have some kind of sanction for late lists as some other comps do?

EG - automatically lose initiative in all games and must deploy all troops first? Do you think that might help to get lists in on time?

I like the sanction suggested a few years ago. Late list OOB is printed and posted for all to see.

For the last few years i have suggested that but then JD would not do nothing. :(

I have now sent a second reminder to those outstanding. Having been corresponding with Andy and the other Britcon list checkers I can only agree that it's a real pain when you look at it across the scale of an event like this. I appreciate that we all do this for fun but I think it's disrespectful to those who give up their time to ignore the deadlines, plus it seems to come down to a number of regular offenders. I've seen the losing initiative thing, it's a nightmare to administer and doesn't seem to be a real deterrent. Likewise publishing the list. So here's my suggestion, which would require cooperation across the different events but that's not too hard, there's not a very large pool of list checkers:

1st Offence: OK, we know things can go wrong, your computer can break or the dog eats your list. First time it happens in a year you get a warning.

2nd and subsequent offence: For each day that your list was late you lose 1 tournament point (from your final score, no looking to get an easier draw this way). Plus, if you incur points loss in a year you don't get a warning next year, it's lose points for any offence.

It may seem draconian, but I suspect it's the kind of penalty that might make people comply. Some of the regular offenders have been playing in tournaments for over 25 years and should have got the hang of sending a list in by now.

Seems entirely reasonable to me Kevin. You'll need to kick it around with the other BHGS Committee members but as long as the penalties are clearly published in advance I can't see that anyone could have a problem with this.

I believe the 'BHGS Rankings Year' now runs with Britcon as the final event? Did that come in?

If so, why not introduce this for all future BHGS events?

A 1-tourney suspension for a 2nd offence would be simpler to administer. :-)

I don't think this is always going to be much of a deterrent. How would you know what their next tournament would be, and which they're planning to miss anyway. In my case the only event I do is Britcon - gives me carte blanche to send a late list every time if I'm told I'll have to 'miss' the Challenge or RollCall.

And before anyone pipes up I have never sent in a late list and only once had to do a correction!

But we do want to encourage people to attend don't we Tim?

And Kevin thought he was being Draconian.

Just waiting for Wayne Dare for a correct list hopefully this evening and that leaves the Australian Glen Noonan who by all things is known for late lists :x
Then we can get the late period published. :D

The new BHGS website from Cyberdyne Systems will automatically monitor any online activity by members across all the key social networks and forums so we can pick up on people who foolishly expose too much information online, and use it to punish them later...

Kinda like you've just done here
