Plans for Panzer Corps-based Eastern Front '41-'45 game??
Other than the very interesting Chris10 Panzer Corps mod 'Struggle for Russia' does Slitherine have plans for a multi-year whole Eastern Front Genuine Panzer Corps-based game?!
I don't mean a new (yet-to-be-released) game such as (Developer??) 'Germany at War: Barbarossa 1941.'
That's what we REALLY wanted -- Panzer Corps-based....
I guess not.

The East Front DLC's were just that, a corps level game. I refer to a WHOLE East Front game, "The BIG ONE!" Not a scripted one with limitations in scope...

That's the mod!
Wish Slitherine would back that, develop it, and sell it.
THE BIG ONE!...THE BIG ONE!...THE BIG ONE!...THE BIG ONE!.....

Oh.....................................................................................................................
It's Matrix Games and Phobetor who are making the not-yet-released "Germany at War: Operation Barbarossa 1941," that is "inspired by classics as Panzer General."....................
Oh....................................now I get it........................................
No, then is the answer.....
A spin off.

Slitherine released Afrika Korps add-onwith a lot of "what if" scenario, so an add-on largely based on uchrony (alternate history) (attack of Caucasus, Arabia, East Africa, India, ...). This is why I like so much this add-on!Something like this?
viewtopic.php?f=147&t=33244
So Slitherine proved they can do it! They just need to do the same on the Eastern front: what does happen after the German victory at Moscow, the victory at Stalingrad, the victory at Kursk ?
Yes the DLCs were scripted and even if you won at Kursk for instance the war continued without any advantage for you.
But maybe you mean you just need a unique and huge map starting on 22/06/1941 where most of Russia is on the map ?
Well, I fear there are game limitations and who does really want to move 300 units ? Who will want to wait 15 minutes, the time needed for AI to move all its units ? I loved the idea of Chris and unfortunately I fear his project is dead (unless taken over by someone else). Anyway I liked the use of special icons for specific units (gescwhader of the Luftwaffe, SS units and even Wehrmacht special units like Gross Deutschland tank unit), icons chosen by Chris were marvellous. Maybe Slitherine could update its vanilla e-file by adding some new SE units inspired on Chris' unfinished works.

hi Robertcl,
You are spot on, at the end of the day, this to big of a map with so many turn (200..300) will result in a very sloggish A.I. that is so predictable or unresponsive,
you lose interest.

Exactly what I think! You are spot on, at the end of the day, this to big of a map with so many turn (200..300) will result in a very sloggish A.I. that is so predictable or unresponsive,

I want different maps and a limited nr of units and turns.
I like using the big European map (see other posts in scenario design section) with many units but I was also very happy to come back to standard Panzer Corps.
The big European map is very small in comparison with Chris' huge USSR map.

I don't think a HUGE scenario like that would be interesting. It would be way too much of a tedious slog. There are games that offer that though, like Gary Grigsby's War in the East, not my cup of tea though, as I mentioned.

It would be pretty cool in cooperative multiplayer though. 3 army groups, 3 players.

Re: Plans for Panzer Corps-based Eastern Front '41-'45 game?
There have been successful and playable whole Eastern Front games, 'Operational Art of War's Directive 21, 1941-1945', and 'War in Russia' (still available for free, allows weapon production control!). Like I've said, I didn't care for GG's War in the East--the phasing, the HQs, the Russian units, the air units, the look of the game, etc., but apparently it is successful.
And, I understand marketing is committed to the very successful and desirable PC DLCs and the likely follow-on Allied Corps DLCs and Soviet Corps DLCs. Certainly though, mega DLC buyers/players will admit to thousands of hours on the slog.
For me, the BIG ONE, please, with OPTIONS: weapons production control, factory capture and conversion, winter gear, earlier invasion timelines, better motorization, huge pincer thrusts, Finnish link-up, Axis Allied development, long-range bombers, etc.
Of course (!), continue with the DLCs but slog me, please, the BIG ONE.

If Slith were to make an east they would have to think long and hard on their signature what if scenarios. I think we can have a potential Cold War on our hands against the Western Powers. Or a scenario where the Allies never invade Europe and are still struggling in Africa. Thus potential invasion of occupied France West Germany and such. Hell a Russian Sea Lion and US Mainland is possible if Slitherine thinks long and hard on it.
Re: Plans for Panzer Corps-based Eastern Front '41-'45 game?
Yes, a sole scenario where western powers fight again USSR in Allied Corps was not enough.
I would like to have many scenarios like that in Soviet Corps.
We have only one user-made campaign dedicated to a war between West (Tommies & Yanks) and East (Ivan), this is not enough, Slitherine should design what if scenarios in his official products (like it did so well in AfriKa Corps)
Soviet Corps should integrate Stalin's vision to move his troops to Paris...

Re: Plans for Panzer Corps-based Eastern Front '41-'45 game?
Well I do like the idea of this "Cold War" but if things go badly let's just say there will be a repeat of Operation Barbarossa. Hell I'm up for a "Moscow 1949" if Slith takes it that far. Or a stalemate after another D-Day after the (second) fall of France. Maybe before this a Allied D-Day in Denmark or The German North Sea coast. (What's the name of the major port? Whilmshaven?) but I'm up for a "Crossing the Rhine" one side the Allies then you counterattack them and conquer the Low Countries. I wonder how Russian Conscripts will fare against the elites of the British and American forces. And another thing. The post war tanks like Challengers must be added! Lots of exciting ideas for a Red Europe. Perhaps we can get some Russian Paratroopers or Spetsnaz into the mix. And instead of "Allies" the Western powers will now be NATO and you will be Warsaw Pact. I'm interested in an Invasion of North Africa and Italy as well. Maybe even a Middle eastern Campagin. I'd be interested in having Red Chinese units join the fray in Europe. North Korea as well. Maybe even a naval battle for the Balic Sea in preparation for the Allied D-Day. Or a Russian D-Day for Norway (even thought they can just attack through Finland if they make it through the Mountains) All of these are just my ideas for the new game set in the Cold War. I'm sure most of you think it's far fetched nonsense but if you play Afrika Korps and see a German Invasion of India (with no Japanese present?) then this is most likley more realistic than that... Lol not to be mean
just I don't see a German India at all. Not unless the Germans fight the Japanese for it.
Re: Plans for Panzer Corps-based Eastern Front '41-'45 game?
If I remember well in Pacific General the India scenario was an invasion by Japanese units on one side and Germans on the other side.just I don't see a German India at all. Not unless the Germans fight the Japanese for it
I admit this India scenario in Afrika Corps seems odd, anyway it is a great change compared to the boring DLC's stuck to history (where you lose the war even if you win at Stalingrad or Kursk). I loved the DLC's but I need some fantasy, I expect it from Slitherine now.
The cold war project was stopped (there were modern units on US, West German, East German and Soviet side) unfortunately (year 1980).
Soviet Corps should integrate if possible:
* war against Finland
* historical 1941-1945 events included the invasion of Mandchuria in August 1945 against Japan if possible
* non historical events 1941-1945 (e.g. Battle after the loss of Moscow at Kubitchev and in SIberia / Invasion of Caucasus after Stalingrad loss and defense of Moscow / Battles in 1944 in a strong defense line supposing Kursk never happened)
* Misunderstandings with western powers leading to the attack of France from occupied Germany.
No need to get the support of China or North Corea
