Change of difficulty settings

is it possible to change the difficulty settings on an ongoing campaign or one has to start from the beginning?

If you installed the most recent patch v1.20 you should be able to change that between scenarios of a campaign.

On the scenario victory screen you will see a button "Difficulty". Select it and you will see your settings along with a tab for advanced options.
