Unit Stats and other musings

Post by citizen6 »

Is there a file (and if so where is it to be found) that lists the units stats for easy comparison?

And just out of curiosity (I've asked a couple of times but never got an answer), is there a reason why 6pdrs don't have HE but 17pdrs do despite this being opposite to reality (generally speaking). The 57mm shouldn't have HE (though apparently it was capable - it was just never issued by the US for that gun) but the Brits used HE in the 6pdr to great extent. Pak40s get it too in the game. Just seems a bit odd that some do and some don't.

Am loving the MP games -but am playing too many at present and losing track of what is happening in each :)

Cornfields - I take back my original statement about it being too large. Makes for some good hunting. Though I'm still not certain after a few games (both sides) if the Cromwells are a bit too good. They tend to dominate as they are impossible to hit and move long distances.
Lightweights - given that my dream of an infantry and halftrack battle will probably have to wait until I have the time to sit down a develop a map myself, I think the changes to have made this much a more balanced and better sceanrio - plenty of scope to try different strategies. The SzFuss while slow firing is generally devastating and so evens things out a bit.
Shepards - Ambush Ambush Ambush.....good fun
Woods - still good.
Rescue - tough but excellent now that the Airborne have mobility - though I'm curious as to how they dropped the Halftrack in :)

Personally I think it's pretty close to ready....

A couple of things though:

The Insignia and turn flag etc for Cornfields is American but all the units are British.
Shepards needs a gap in the deployment zones (ie a strip of no-man's land) so that you cannot deploy in a space next to an enemy.
There appears to be a slight issue with the buildings around 25,60 in Rescue as I was not able to target these with suppression fire from either a flame tank or a 75mm halftrack

And the "...." issue with the text boxes where it flows over and enters a new line that I outlined in an earlier post still needs fixing.

Any chance the text screen in MP will have some editablility (if that's a word)?

Great game as always.....

Thanks.

Full units stats can be viewed in Campaigns/8Rommel/Squads.csv.

Thanks Andrew, but I can't find that directory structure (I'm on a mac if that makes a difference). My campaigns folder only contains the MP DLC from other players. The closest I can find to anything that even looks like Campaigns/8Rommel/Squads is in saves where there is Campaigns_8Rommel.DAT and Campaigns_8Rommel.ACH. Even doing a search on Squads.csv only bring up files within the MP DLC folders, none of which pertain to Rommel.

Citizen

Look for Squads.csv at:
/Applications/BABeta2.2.4.app/Contents/Resources/CAMPAIGNS/8ROMMEL
/Applications/BABeta2.2.4.app/Contents/Resources/MULTIPLAYER/MPROMMEL

note: to see the "contents" of an app you must select it and open the contextual menu (control click, or right click) and select "Show package contents".

Excellent stuff - are these apps of your own making? I've learned so much about the mechanics just from having a quick peruse of these. Thanks

Not quite sure how the team editor works (it also gave me an error when I opened it - something about a missing file) but the other two work great.

Team units should work, I did not upgrade the version for a while, as I think no body is using them.
Team units is for create new teams (to develop scenarios) and for tracking your MP games, there are a lot of templates of MP scenarios.
I do not know about the missing file, I'll check it
try this if you want is the latest (cocoa build)

Citizen,
(it also gave me an error when I opened it - something about a missing file)
Team must be installed in the same Mac where BA is, because it uses files from the BA app.
Can you tell me more details?, I just downloaded the 1.9, from the original link (viewtop ... 98#p341711) and it worked on my Mac.

It is on the same Mac as BA. I reinstalled it and didn't get the error message and now it works a bit better - I can drag and drop between windows (I couldn't get anything to happen in the lower window before)....I'll have a play when I have some time. I've got an idea for a short campaign that no-one has touched yet. Cheers.
