I (and others judging from replies to various topics) would find a 'sticky' detailing the various released/playable Mods/Scenarios including details of Platforms i.e. PC, iPad, Mac, version number etc, SP/MP, active date, links to the base forum/topic very useful.
I would be happy to 'manage' and administer such a central directory resource subject to receiving the data via PM or email and having the relevant rights. Clearly the players already allied to specific mods/scenarios would not require such a resource, but given the range and depth of the topics across the BA spectrum, new and exploring players would I suggest find such a resource of benefit as well as promoting the BA gaming model.
I envisage that such a 'sticky' would not allow replies due to the embedded links to the relevant forums and topics ie such a resource would act only as a Directory.

Re: Directory of Mods/Scenarios?
Is there a way to allow for the needed files to be downloaded from the multi-player screen in the i-Pad BA?
Right now when I see a challenge I'd like to take, but don't have the needed files, I see a grey open padlock. I then have to highlight it, read the campaign/scenario, write down the file names, leave BA, go to the forum, search for those files, select the proper file name, copy, go back to BA, go to Campaigns, open the download window, paste the file name, and see if it works. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
When I see how easy, painless even, the PBEM system is, this part of BA seems to be in need of some loving attention to bring it up to the same standard.
Unless I'm missing something... which is entirely possible since I'm pretty new to this. If there is a better way, please let me know!!

Re: Directory of Mods/Scenarios?
It would definitely be cool! The problem is that user mods can be hosted anywhere and (as you say) have their download urls listed on the forum. There isn't really any way to automate this. I guess it might be possible to do a popup for the official user mods, but it's not a trivial task.chandlerusm wrote:Is there a way to allow for the needed files to be downloaded from the multi-player screen in the i-Pad BA?

They can also be very large indeed (over 50Mb) so automatic downloading isn't something we would want to do, nor attaching to the saved game.

Re: Directory of Mods/Scenarios?
Could a Sticky post be created that lists all urls for the mods. Current and for future ones.

That way, we could find the user downloadable urls faster.

New sticky:
viewtopic.php?f=87&t=43167
Please, links and details only, no commentary. I will prune out anything which dilutes its usefulness.
Cheers

Re: Directory of Mods/Scenarios?
This sticky is very helpful! I would only ask that designers keep posting something like "OK, here's the link for the latest version" messages within the thread. That way I can go to the end of the thread and scroll back to find the latest link.
Having one place to find all the scenario threads is a big step in reducing the barriers to playing custom MP scenarios, thanks!

Re: Directory of Mods/Scenarios?
AWESOME! Thanks Pip!
NOTE TO MOD/SCENARIO CREATORS: Here's some very helpful suggestions that I highly reccomend using.
- Please use version numbers on your maps. This way, we'll always know if we have the latest version. This also prevents the scenario where two players are using two different versions of the same map,..you'll know since you get the message pop-up about scripts not matching.
- Please also use your name or alias in the map name. This will help us to know who created it and who to ask for help.
Here's an example, if I created a map:
GWSU_Forts_v1.0
GSWU_Forts_v1.1,...and so on.
If you've made huge amounts of changes,...bump the major number, for example:
GWSU_Forts_v2.0
Also PLEASE, list the changes, updates, or bug fixes you made in the next version.
I'd also suggest editing your original post with the updated info, rather than creating a new thread.
This will stop us from finding, version 1.0's link,....and then v1.1's link on another thread.
