Initial Impressions

Installation went quickly but updating was very slow. My max download was around 200kb/s.

I launched a random game and the cinematic (a good intro btw!) froze for a few seconds. I alt-tabbed out and then back-in and the game unfroze.

Upon starting the game I noticed how similar it seems to Alpha Centauri, including the factions to choose from. Not a bad thing, just my impression.

The game is pretty unforgiving. I managed to lose within 30 turns. I like that!

Other thoughts:

The research order is weird. Why does synthetic fertilizer leading to titanium plates?

It would be nice to drag units/buildings to change order of production in the production qeue.

The Colonial Trooper should begin with some basic armor.

The city and trooper art is great, as are the xenomorphs. The vehicles could use a little work. I have only played one faction but faction specific units would be great.

The end statistics should be graphed. The numbers are great but comparing to other factions is tedious without a graph.

Overall the game seems solid! I cannot wait to play more!

Thanx for the feedback, the technology tree is generated at random so it will be different every time you play, that is why it doesnt make sense at some parts but there will be a option to play with a pre-designed tech tree in the final version of the game so you can turn it off. The end results will be graphed and displayed in a way that makes it more informative. All your other comments will be taken into consideration for changes to the game. Thanx again :)

My second chance to play I fared better.

I randomized again and started a new game as the militaristic faction. I have not played terribly long but surrounding factions were very aggressive (on medium difficulty). The University attacked me without provocation that I could notice. This seemed a bit out of place. Has anyone else has noticed out of character diplomatic behavior?

That is interesting. I like the concept but maybe group technologies by subject? I.e. growth, military, economic/civic, and then randomize them? I can see that being a tough nut to crack.
