Disrupted & charging the camp.

Post by Caliph »

A situation nearly arose in the game last night as one of my disrupted non-shock BG's was on the point of charging my opponents camp. It didn't happen, because the game finished, but as I read the rules this morning (a day off sat in the sun, avoiding the gardening by reading the rules and claiming I "have a headache"), I noticed something.

On p65, "Attempts to charge when disrupted or fragmented", the first bullet says "Disrupted non-shock battle troops must pass a CMT to charge."

On p75 "Moving into contact with the enemy camp", it says "A move into contact with the enemy camp is treated as a charge." and also that "FRAGMENTED troops cannot charge the enemy camp, but light foot can, and no troops have to take a CMT to do so".

So, my question is - would my disrupted non-shock battle troops have to take a CMT to "charge" into the enemy camp? I suspect that they do because I think the "no troops have to take a CMT do so" is allow troops, that are unable to charge certain other troop types or whatever, to loot camps, but I would appreciate confirmation.

Thanks,

Bri

Surely they don't have to test? The camp rule clearly says no troops have to take a CMT to charge a camp. If disrupted troops were an exception, it would say no troops, unless disrupter, have to take a CMT to do so.

One for a new FAQ I reckon.

I would agree with Pyruse that no test would be needed, though others may come up with a different judgement

I think
no troops have to take a CMT do so

is clear and no FAQ entry is necessary. If there were an exception (such as disrupted non-shock troops) that should be specified.

Thanks for the replies. So, the consensus is that the "no troops have to take a CMT" overrides the "Disrupted non-shock battle troops must pass a CMT" specifically for charging a camp. I thought it was worth asking as the situation is bound to happen again (though it is unlikely in my case).
I cannot remember ever having sacked an opponents camp and, in the event that I get any of my troops close enough to try in future, as improbable as this is, they will probably not be "steady" so I will bear this in mind.

To me, the clearest toll of the bell is that Light Foot (who cannot charge ANYONE in the open from the front, flank, rear or ANYTHING) don't even have to pass a CMT.

I mean, if a BG of poor Light Foot Javelinmen can take a camp, then I think a BG of Superior Jannisarries who happen to be disrupted should be able to.

I think fragmented should as well, after all if the officers have "lost control" theres no one to stop guys running off for some loot

I think the rules are clear on fragmented troops not being able to charge so they wouldn't be able to charge the camp.
