Movement question

Post by lettow »

I constantly cannot move one hex to attack a unit. Where in the rules does it talk about what prohibits moving into a square. I can move four two hexes away from the enemy, but can't move one hex toward them to attack. What can prevent a unit from moving one hex across clear terrain to attack a unit?

light foot wont charge formed(ie medium or heavy) infantry or any cavalry
light horse wont charge formed infantry
missle armed(primary weapon) need to pass an anarchy test to charge formed troops
fragged units wont charge anyone (i beleive shock troops can if they pass an anarchy test)

pretty sure this covers 90% of situations, hope it helps!

I have two Gallic Calvalry side by side. A Roman Equestrian Calvary charges the left Gallic Calvary unit and they are locked in combat. When it is my turn to move the game will not allow the Gallic calvary on the right to move one hex forward and hit the Equestrian Calvary in the flank???!!! The right Gallic Calvary can move four hexes in any other direction, but can't move on hex forward to his the Roman calvary in the flank.

Is there a website that shows screenshots that explains the logical movement exceptions that are obviously coming into play because I can't understand from reading the rules why this calvary can move forward one hex.

Thanks

Sound like you're not facing toward your target. The fog wiki has lots of examples of play.
